Thank you for upgrading to the Sledge STA-1200D. Your new amplifier delivers greater performance
along with advanced control and calibration features only available via the SVS Subwoofer Control
mobile app. Please follow all instructions carefully to ensure proper installation of your new amplifier.
Parts and Tools needed: • One #2 square drive bit (included).
Male spade output adapter for Sledge STA-1200D amplifier (included).
(10) replacement amplifier screws (included).
• A hand-held or power bit driver.
• A drive bit extender (optional for PC13-Ultra).
Turn off the main power switch. Disconnect the power cord and the input cable. Wait 30
minutes before continuing to the next step. This will ensure that all residual power has
drained from the amplifier.
Remove the ten (10) #2 square drive outer
perimeter wood screws from the amplifier
plate with the provided bit. For the PC13-Ultra,
a drive bit extender may be helpful to reach
the top/bottom middle screws on the plate, as
these are the most recessed relative to the
curvature of the cylinder tubing.
Partially remove the amplifier from the
enclosure, taking care not to disconnect
any wiring connections. If the amplifier
seems stuck in the enclosure, please
contact our SVS Sound Experts for advice
on how to remove it.

Overview

The SVS Sledge STA-1200D is an amplifier designed to upgrade SVS 13-Ultra subwoofers, enhancing their performance with advanced control and calibration features accessible via the SVS Subwoofer Control mobile app. This upgrade allows users to experience improved audio quality and more precise customization of their subwoofer's output.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Sledge STA-1200D is to replace an existing Sledge STA-1000D amplifier in SVS 13-Ultra subwoofers. This replacement provides a significant performance boost, offering greater power and more sophisticated digital signal processing (DSP) capabilities. The amplifier acts as the brain of the subwoofer, receiving audio signals from an AV receiver or other audio source and amplifying them to drive the subwoofer's woofer. The advanced DSP allows for fine-tuning of various audio parameters, such as low-pass filters, phase, and parametric EQ, all managed through a dedicated mobile application. This integration with a mobile app provides a user-friendly interface for adjusting settings, making it easier to optimize the subwoofer's performance for specific room acoustics and personal preferences. The amplifier is designed to deliver clean, powerful bass, ensuring that the subwoofer integrates seamlessly with the rest of a home theater or audio system.

Usage Features:

The Sledge STA-1200D is designed for straightforward integration into existing SVS 13-Ultra subwoofers. The upgrade process involves carefully removing the old amplifier and installing the new one, connecting the woofer wires and the output adapter. Once installed, the amplifier's full potential is unlocked through the SVS Subwoofer Control mobile app, available for iOS, Android, and Amazon devices.

Key usage features include:

  • Mobile App Control: All amplifier settings, including volume, low-pass filter, phase, and parametric EQ, are controlled wirelessly via the SVS Subwoofer Control app. This eliminates the need for physical knobs or buttons on the amplifier plate, offering a sleek design and convenient remote adjustment from the listening position.
  • Customizable Audio Settings: The app provides extensive options for tailoring the subwoofer's sound. Users can adjust the low-pass filter to blend the subwoofer's output with their main speakers, set the phase to ensure proper integration with other speakers, and utilize the parametric EQ to address room modes and optimize bass response for their specific environment.
  • Volume Control: Precise volume adjustments can be made through the app, allowing users to fine-tune the subwoofer's output level to match their system and preferences.
  • Preset Management: The app often includes features for saving and recalling custom presets, enabling users to switch between different audio configurations for movies, music, or late-night listening with ease.
  • Auto-Setup Compatibility: If using an AV processor with an auto-setup feature, the Sledge STA-1200D is compatible. Users may need to re-run the auto-setup process after the amplifier upgrade to ensure proper calibration and achieve the desired overall calibration level.
  • Diagnostic Tools: The mobile app may also offer diagnostic information or feedback, helping users understand the subwoofer's status and performance.

Maintenance Features:

The Sledge STA-1200D is designed for durability and minimal ongoing maintenance, typical of high-quality audio components.

Key maintenance considerations include:

  • Installation: The initial installation process is the most significant "maintenance" task. It requires careful handling and adherence to the provided instructions to ensure proper and safe installation. This includes turning off power, disconnecting cables, and using the correct tools (e.g., #2 square drive bit, bit extender for PC13-Ultra models).
  • Secure Connections: Ensuring all wiring connections (woofer wires, output adapter) are tight and correctly polarized (red positive, black negative) during installation is crucial for optimal performance and longevity. Loose connections can lead to intermittent sound or damage.
  • Power Management: Always turning off the main power switch and disconnecting the power cord before any physical interaction with the amplifier (e.g., during installation or troubleshooting) is a critical safety and maintenance practice. Waiting 30 minutes after disconnection allows residual power to drain, preventing potential damage to the amplifier or injury.
  • Environmental Care: Like all electronic components, the amplifier should be kept in a stable environment, away from extreme temperatures, humidity, and direct sunlight, to ensure its long-term reliability.
  • Software Updates: While not explicitly detailed as a maintenance feature, the mobile app control implies potential for firmware updates to the amplifier, which would be delivered through the app. These updates could improve performance, add new features, or address bugs, contributing to the amplifier's ongoing functionality and relevance.
  • Troubleshooting Support: In case of issues, SVS provides comprehensive customer support via phone, email, and online chat. This support network is a key "maintenance" feature, offering expert guidance for installation, calibration, and any operational problems.
  • Cleaning: The amplifier plate, once installed, can be gently wiped clean with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the finish or internal components.

Overall, the Sledge STA-1200D upgrade offers a robust and user-friendly solution for enhancing SVS 13-Ultra subwoofers, providing advanced control and superior audio performance with minimal ongoing effort beyond the initial installation.
