Overview

The SWAGTRON® K6 4-in-1 Kick Scooter & Balance Bike is a versatile personal scooter designed for children aged two to five years old. This non-motorized device offers two primary modes: Bike Mode and Scooter Mode, allowing it to adapt to a child's developmental stage and preferences. The K6 is intended for single riders and is not equipped for road use, off-road use, or use with any motorized device.

Function Description

The K6 functions as both a balance bike and a kick scooter. In Bike Mode, the device features a seat and two rear wheels, enabling children to learn balance and propulsion by pushing off the ground with their feet. This mode helps develop coordination and confidence before transitioning to a traditional pedal bike. In Scooter Mode, the seat is rotated, and the device functions as a kick scooter with a deck for standing and a footbrake for stopping. This mode encourages gross motor skills, balance, and independent movement. The ability to switch between these modes makes the K6 a long-lasting toy that can grow with a child.

Usage Features

The K6 is designed for ease of use and adaptability. Switching between Bike Mode and Scooter Mode involves pushing a switch button near the stem and rotating the deck/seat 180 degrees. In Scooter Mode, the deck faces up, while in Bike Mode, the seat faces up.

For Bike Mode, the child grips both handles firmly and sits on the seat. They propel the K6 forward by pushing off the ground with both feet. Once desired speed is reached, both feet can leave the ground. To stop, the child steps on the ground with both feet. This mode is ideal for developing initial balance and coordination.

For Scooter Mode, the child grips both handles firmly and places one foot towards the front of the deck. They use their other foot to push off the ground, propelling the scooter forward. Both feet can be placed on the deck once the desired speed is achieved. To stop, the child can step on the ground with one foot or press down on the rear footbrake. This mode offers a more active and dynamic riding experience.

Assembly of the K6 involves attaching the handlebar, front wheel, and rear wheel(s). The handlebar aligns with the stem, and a metal peg must pop into its designated hole to secure it. The front wheel assembly requires sliding the largest wheel into the fork, then inserting a short axle with spacers through the wheel and fork, secured by a screw. The K6 comes pre-assembled with one rear wheel in Scooter Mode. To detach or attach one rear wheel, hex keys are used to remove or secure nuts, spacers, and a short axle. For two rear wheels (typically for Bike Mode), the process involves sliding a cover into the deck slot, then adding wheels and spacers to a long axle, securing them with screws and hex keys. The footbrake cover is aligned with the wheel and secured with screws.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and durability of the K6. Before each use, it is important to check that all screws and fittings are secure. Screws and fixtures may loosen over time, so periodic checking and tightening are recommended. This ensures the structural integrity of the scooter and helps prevent accidents.

The K6 should be used on flat, dry surfaces that are free from obstruction. Riding on uneven terrain requires slowing down to maintain control. It is important to avoid places with pedestrians or obstacles to ensure a safe riding environment.

Safety is paramount when using the K6. All riders, regardless of age, should always wear an ASTM F1492 approved helmet and appropriate protective gear, including knee and elbow pads. The helmet should fit comfortably and snugly, covering the forehead without hindering vision, and have a chin strap and buckle to keep it in place. It should be made of a hard, protective outer shell and an impact-absorbing inner layer at least 1/2-inch thick, and be approved by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the Snell Memorial Foundation, or the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).

Adult supervision is required at all times when the K6 is in use. Users should keep fingers away from moving parts to avoid pinching and entrapment. Only one person should be on the scooter at a time. Riders must obey all outdoor regulations, give right of way to pedestrians, and never ride at night. Caution is advised when riding on wet pavement, as braking and wheel traction may be affected. The K6 should not be modified in any way not outlined in the instructions. Performing stunts or dangerous maneuvers is also prohibited. The maximum load for the K6 is 55 lbs (25 kg).

The SWAGTRON® K6 is designed to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for young children, helping them develop essential motor skills and confidence through play.
