This document provides a comprehensive overview of the Swan Dual Voltage Travel Iron (Model: SI3070N), covering its function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.
Function Description
The Swan Dual Voltage Travel Iron is designed for the efficient removal of wrinkles from various fabrics. Its primary function is to provide heat and, optionally, steam to smooth out clothing. The dual voltage capability makes it suitable for use in different regions with varying electrical standards, making it an ideal travel companion. The iron features a steam shot function for stubborn wrinkles and a temperature dial to select appropriate heat settings for different fabric types.

Usage Features
Before First Use:
- Remove any stickers, protective foil, or storage cover from the soleplate.
- Select the correct voltage (115V or 230V) for your location using the voltage selector.
Ironing Process:
- Lift the Water Tank Cover (G) and fill the water tank to the MAX level mark.
- Connect the iron to the mains supply and put the Steam Switch (E) into the desired position (dry or steam).
- Select the correct temperature according to the garment label using the temperature dial (F). It is recommended to start with lower temperature garments first.
- The Steam Shot button (C) can be pressed to release a shot of steam when a higher temperature is selected.
- Always check for ironing instructions on garment labels.
- The iron heats up quickly, so start with articles requiring the lowest temperature (e.g., synthetic fibres).
- If the fabric consists of various kinds of fibres, select the lowest ironing temperature for that composition.
- Iron silk and other fabrics prone to shininess on the inner side.
- To prevent staining, do not spray water directly on silk or delicate fabrics.
- For velvet and other textures that become shiny, iron in one direction with light pressure, keeping the iron moving constantly.
- Pure woollen fabrics (100% wool) can be ironed with the iron set to a steam position, preferably with the steam button at maximum, using a dry cloth as a mat.
- When ironing woollen fabrics, shining may occur; it is suggested to turn the article inside out and iron the reverse side.
Safety Precautions During Use:
- Always ensure the voltage on the rating label matches your home's mains voltage.
- Do not use the appliance if it has been dropped or damaged.
- Never immerse the unit in water or any other liquid.
- Remove the plug by gripping it, not by pulling the cord.
- Do not let the cord hang over edges or touch hot surfaces.
- Do not use on gas or electric cooking tops or near open flames.
- If an extension cord is necessary, ensure it is suited to the appliance's power consumption and placed to avoid tripping hazards.
- Not suitable for outdoor use.
- Do not carry the appliance by the power cord.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended during use.
- Always operate on a smooth, even, stable surface.
- Do not place the unit on a hot surface.
- Never switch on the appliance through an external timer or remote control system.
Maintenance Features
After Ironing:
- Disconnect the power supply.
- Allow the iron to cool completely.
- Empty any remaining water from the water tank.
- Reconnect the power supply and disconnect after the indicator light goes off; this dries the soleplate.
- Once completely cool, wipe flakes and deposits from the soleplate with a damp cloth or a non-abrasive (liquid) cleaner.
- Clean the upper part of the iron with a damp cloth.
- Store the emptied iron horizontally on a stable surface with a cloth protecting the soleplate.
Limescale Management:
- If you live in a hard water area, it is recommended to use bottled water for this iron.
- Excessive limescale build-up can reduce ironing efficiency and shorten the life of the iron considerably.
Disposal:
- Appliances bearing the WEEE symbol (crossed-out wheeled bin) must not be disposed of with domestic rubbish.
- Old electrical and electronic appliances must be disposed of separately.
- Visit www.recyclemore.co.uk or www.recyclenow.co.uk for information on recycling electrical items.
- Arrange to take the appliance to your local Civic Amenity site for recycling once it has reached the end of its life.
