Overview

This manual provides comprehensive information for fitting a Brondell Swash bidet toilet seat, including models Swash 300, 900, 1000, 1200, 1400, CL825, SE400, and SE600, as well as the Swash 100 EcoSeat. The primary function of these instructions is to guide users through the process of measuring their existing toilet to ensure proper compatibility and installation of a Swash bidet toilet seat. The manual emphasizes the importance of accurate measurements to achieve a secure and functional fit, preventing issues such as overhang or inadequate clearance.

The installation process begins with three critical measurements. First, users must measure the distance between the bolt holes on their toilet. For most Swash models, this distance should fall between 5-1/4 inches and 8 inches. A specific note is included for SE400, SE600, IS707, CL510, and CL950 models, which require a precise 5-1/2 inches between bolt holes for proper fit. This initial measurement is crucial as it determines whether the bidet seat can be securely mounted to the toilet bowl.

The second essential measurement involves determining the clearance from the center of the bolt holes to the toilet tank. To ensure adequate space for the bidet seat and its components, there must be at least 1-1/2 inches of clearance. This measurement prevents the bidet seat from interfering with the toilet tank, allowing for proper operation and access. The manual also addresses a common concern: if the distance from the center of the bolt holes to the toilet tank is less than 2 inches, the Swash bidet seat may extend slightly over the front edge of the toilet bowl. This detail helps users anticipate potential aesthetic outcomes and manage expectations regarding the seat's fit.

The third measurement is vital for determining the correct shape of the Swash bidet seat—either elongated or round. Users need to measure the distance from the bolt holes to the very front of the toilet bowl. If this measurement is between 18 inches and 19-1/2 inches, an Elongated Swash bidet seat is recommended. Conversely, if the measurement is between 16 inches and 17-3/4 inches, a Round Swash bidet seat should be ordered. This distinction ensures that the bidet seat matches the contour of the toilet bowl, providing comfort and a seamless appearance.

For the Swash 100 EcoSeat, specific fit information is provided. This model is primarily designed to fit Elongated toilets, with measurements from 18 inches to 19-3/4 inches from the bolt holes to the front of the bowl, and a bolt hole spacing of 5-1/4 inches to 8 inches. However, the EcoSeat S100 can also fit select Round fixtures, and users are advised to reference the provided diagram for size verification. A crucial limitation for the EcoSeat S100 is that it will not fit French Curve fixtures, a detail that helps users avoid incompatible purchases.

Beyond initial measurements, the manual offers additional guidance for optimizing the fit of the Swash bidet seat. It advises users to measure the distance from the front of the toilet tank to the front of the toilet bowl. If this measurement is less than 20-1/2 inches, even if the fixture is elongated, users should consider purchasing a Round size Swash bidet seat. This recommendation aims to reduce the amount the seat extends over the front edge, improving the overall aesthetic and user experience. The manual clarifies that the overall length of the Round Swash is 19.4 inches, and a distance less than 19.4 inches from the tank to the front of the toilet bowl will inevitably cause overhang.

The manual also addresses specific hardware requirements. It notes that some toilets may require an Alternative T-Valve and/or Top Mount Hardware for proper installation. These components are essential for certain toilet configurations, ensuring that the bidet seat can be connected to the water supply and securely mounted.

For users considering installing a Brondell Swash bidet toilet seat on a new toilet, the manual provides a detailed approach. It recommends finding a toilet that aligns with size, budget, design, performance, and height requirements. Once a suitable toilet is identified, users are instructed to consult the toilet manufacturer's spec sheet and a provided diagram to calculate compatibility. The key compatibility factor is a value labeled "D," which represents the clearance. If the value of "D" is greater than 1-1/2 inches, the toilet is deemed compatible with the Swash bidet seat. This calculation involves three measurements from the toilet: "A" (overall length of toilet), "B" (depth of toilet bowl), and "C" (depth of toilet tank). The clearance "D" is calculated as A - B - C.

To further assist users in selecting a new toilet, the manual includes a "Best Of" list, offering inspiration for high-quality and compatible toilets. This list categorizes toilets by type and features:

  • Best High End: Toto Drake II Two-Piece toilet.
  • Best High End Concealed Trap Away Toilet (Skirted): Toto Legato One-Piece high-Efficiency. This model specifically notes that it may require an Alternative T-Valve and Top Mount Hardware for installation.
  • Dual Flush High End: Toto Connelly Close Coupled toilet, 1.28GPF & 0.9GPF.
  • Dual Flush and Budget-Friendly: Glacier bay 1-piece High Efficiency Dual Flush Elongated Toilet in White.
  • Wall-Hung: Toto Maris. For this type of toilet, which uses an In-Wall Tank System, the manual highlights that a plumber will need to provide an accessible 1/2-inch water supply connection for the bidet, indicating a more complex installation process.

The manual explicitly states that Brondell has not used any of these listed toilets and is not responsible for their performance. It also clarifies that Brondell has no affiliation with the manufacturers mentioned, ensuring transparency and avoiding endorsements. This "Best Of" list serves as a helpful resource for users looking to purchase a new toilet that will seamlessly integrate with a Swash bidet seat.

In summary, the manual is designed to be a comprehensive guide for ensuring the correct fit of a Brondell Swash bidet toilet seat. It meticulously outlines the necessary measurements, provides specific requirements for different models, offers solutions for potential fitting issues like overhang, and guides users through the process of selecting a new, compatible toilet. The emphasis on accurate measurement and detailed instructions aims to empower users to confidently choose and install their Swash bidet toilet seat for optimal performance and satisfaction.
