Overview

The SWIT M-1073H is a 7-inch Full HD Rack Mount LCD Monitor designed for professional video monitoring applications. This device supports a variety of video inputs and offers a range of features for video analysis, audio monitoring, and display customization.

Function Description

The M-1073H features a TFT LCD panel with a resolution of 1920x1200 and a wide viewing angle of H160°/160°. It supports multiple video inputs, including two 3GSDI (Level A/B) and one HDMI2.0 for 4K display. For outputs, it provides one 3GSDI, one HDMI, and one analog audio loop-through.

The front panel includes a TALLY light with red, green, and yellow indicators, a MENU/ENTER knob for navigating and adjusting settings, and signal selection buttons for HDMI, SDI1, and SDI2. Four user-definable function keys (F1-F4) allow for quick access to frequently used features. An INFO button displays or hides status information and video analysis graphics, and also serves as a one-button exit from the menu. A 3.5mm earphone socket is provided for SDI/HDMI embedded audio monitoring, and a POWER button controls the device's on/off state.

The back panel includes a fan for cooling, GPI (TSL UMD&GPI control socket) and USB ports for firmware upgrades, HDMI-IN and HDMI-OUT connectors, and SDI-IN1, SDI-IN2, and SDI-OUT BNC connectors. A 4-pin XLR DC IN connector is used for power.

The monitor's On-Screen Display (OSD) allows users to adjust various parameters and settings, including picture settings, color temperature, function key assignments, and display options.

Usage Features

The M-1073H offers a comprehensive set of features to enhance video monitoring and analysis:

  • HDMI 4K Display Support: Capable of displaying 4K resolution signals via HDMI.
  • Camera Log Conversion: Supports conversion of various camera log modes (e.g., J-Log1, Log-C, S-Log2, S-Log3, C-Log, V-Log, Redlog Film) to standard ITU Rec.709 for accurate monitoring. A "User-Log" option is available for user-defined LUT conversions.
  • 3DLut Cube Support: Allows for the import and application of 3D LUT (Look-Up Table) cube files for precise color calibration. Users can import custom 3DLut.cube files via USB, and factory cubes can be reset if needed.
  • Multiple Aspect Ratio and Scan Modes: Provides options for various aspect ratios (Auto, 4:3, 16:9, Full) and scan modes (Normal, Native, Overscan) to suit different viewing requirements.
  • Multiple Marker Selection: Offers a range of markers, including 4:3, 13:9, 14:9, 15:9, 16:9, 1.85:1, and 2.35:1, along with safety areas (80%, 85%, 90%, 93%, 95%) and a center marker. "Fit Marker" functionality allows benchmarking safety areas against either the actual display screen or the area inside the scales marker. Marker color and outside display options are also customizable.
  • Powerful Audio and Video Analysis Functions:
    • 16-ch Embedded Audio Meters: Displays up to 16 channels of embedded audio meters for 3G/HD/SD SDI inputs (2 channels for HDMI). Audio meters change color (green, yellow, red) based on signal levels, indicating potential over-exposure.
    • Audio Alarm: Notifies users if embedded audio is too low ("MUTE") or absent ("UNLOCKED").
    • Time Code (SDI): Displays SMPTE time code (VITC1, VITC2, or LTC) for synchronization and material identification. "UNLOCKED" is displayed if no time code is detected.
    • Internal Color Bar: Provides a 100% internal color bar for SDI and HDMI inputs, aiding in monitor color analysis and display parameter adjustment.
    • Peaking Focus Assist: Highlights sharp edges in red or blue under SDI and HDMI input to help users achieve precise focus.
    • Zebra Stripes: Indicates over-exposed areas of the image with black and white lines when luminance exceeds 90%.
    • Freeze Frame: Captures and displays the current broadcast frame.
    • R/G/B/Mono: Allows monitoring of individual primary color signals (red, green, blue) or the luminance signal only to assess image noise.
    • False Color: Aids in camera exposure setting by displaying a color chart reference, with colors ranging from dark (blue) to bright (red) in a consecutive sequence.
    • AFD (SDI): Graphically displays Active Format Description (AFD) information embedded in SDI signals.
    • H/V Delay (SDI): Used under SDI input to display line/field blanking signals and observe horizontal and vertical synchronous signals.
  • Image Flip: Supports horizontal, vertical, and horizontal/vertical two-way image flip functions.
  • Zoom-in and Mapping: Allows users to zoom into video at various rates (1.2x to 3.0x) and map the zoomed area left/right and up/down. Peaking precision can also be adjusted in zoom mode. A mapping indication window shows the zoom rate and position.
  • Multiple Functions User-Defined: Users can define Source IDs and assign various functions to the F1-F4 keys and GPI pins for quick access and control.
  • USB Firmware Upgrade: The device's firmware can be easily upgraded via a USB stick.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of the M-1073H:

  • Power Management: Always use the provided or recommended power adapter. For third-party adapters, ensure voltage, supplied power, and polarity are correct. Disconnect the power cable when not in use for extended periods, if the cable/adapter is damaged, or if the monitor housing is broken.
  • Monitor Handling: Avoid touching the screen with fingers to prevent defacement. Do not press the screen, as the LCD is delicate. Place the product on a stable surface.
  • Cleaning: Clean the screen with a dry, soft cloth or a special LCD cleanser. Do not press hard on the screen during cleaning. Avoid using water or other chemical cleansers, as they may damage the LCD.
  • Environmental Considerations: To reduce the risk of fire and electrical shock, do not expose the product to rain or damp conditions. Keep the monitor away from strong magnetic fields, which can cause video and audio signal noise.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual provides a troubleshooting section to address common issues such as no display, image/color abnormalities, and no audio output, offering possible causes and solutions.
  • Warranty: The product comes with a 2-year warranty, which covers manufacturing defects but excludes physical damage, LCD dot defects (under three), damage from third-party power adapters, improper use/maintenance/storage, unauthorized disassembly, or issues not related to design/workmanship/quality.
