Overview

The Synthesis Soprano Limited Edition is an integrated amplifier designed and manufactured in Italy, known for its "Art in Music" philosophy. This device combines high-fidelity audio performance with a user-friendly design, offering a comprehensive solution for audio enthusiasts.

Function Description:

The Soprano Limited Edition functions as an integrated amplifier, combining pre-amplification and power amplification stages in a single unit. It supports a variety of audio sources, both analog and digital, making it versatile for modern audio setups. The amplifier features a Push-Pull Pentode configuration in its power stage, utilizing EL84/6BQ5 tubes, which are known for their warm and rich sound characteristics. The input stage uses an OP-AMP JRC4580, and the driver stage employs MJD340 components.

The device includes multiple input options:

  • Analog Inputs: One Line input and one Phono MM input (47Kohm, 40dB gain) for turntables.
  • Digital Inputs: One SPDIF coaxial, one Toslink optical, and one USB "B" type input, compatible with Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android devices. These digital inputs allow for high-resolution audio streaming, with a maximum resolution of 24 Bit 192KHz for SPDIF and Optical.

The amplifier is controlled via a front panel with a volume knob, input selector buttons, and an on/off switch. An infrared remote control is also included, offering convenient access to volume adjustment, mute function, and input selection.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Stage (1 ch.): 2 x EL84/6BQ5

  • Weight: 10.0 Kg (22.0 lbs)
  • Line Power: 120/240 VAC, 50/60 Hz (as per rear label)
  • Consumption: 80W max
  • Remote Control: Infrared, RC5 protocol, with functions for volume, mute, and input selection. Uses 2x AAA batteries.

Usage Features:

  • Power-Up Sequence: Upon power-up, a pre-heating function is automatically activated for the first 30 seconds. During this time, input LEDs light up sequentially, and the mute function is active, preventing sound output. Optimal sound performance is achieved after at least 30 minutes of operation.
  • Volume Control: The volume can be adjusted using the front panel knob or the remote control. A front panel LED indicates the volume intensity.
  • Input Selection: Inputs are selected via buttons on the front panel or sequentially through the remote control.
  • Digital Input Usage: For Windows XP, manual setting of the default audio device may be required (Start → Settings → Control Panel → Sounds and Audio Devices → Audio). The USB interface supports smartphones and tablets running recent versions of iOS and Android.
  • Placement: The amplifier's heat dissipation is passive, relying on convective air currents. It requires ample free space above and below to ensure proper ventilation. It should not be exposed to direct sunlight, excessive heat, cold, moisture, dust, or electrostatic discharges. Objects should not be inserted beneath the unit, and ventilation slots must not be blocked or covered.
  • Safety: Users are explicitly warned not to open the amplifier case for any reason. All internal repairs or adjustments must be performed by a Synthesis dealer or certified service center to maintain warranty validity. The power cable must be unplugged from the AC outlet before any connections are made. The unit is not completely disconnected from AC mains power even when the main power switch is in the "OFF" position if the power cable is still plugged in.
  • Troubleshooting: A dedicated section in the manual provides solutions for common issues such as the unit not powering on, no sound from speakers, or incorrect input selection. Users are advised to contact Synthesis for technical assistance if issues persist.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The equipment should be cleaned with a soft, slightly dampened, lint-free cloth. Harsh cleaning agents, solvents, or alcohol should be avoided as they may have a corrosive effect.
  • Fuse: The power inlet includes a fuse for circuit protection. If the fuse blows without an apparent reason, it should not be replaced by the user; the unit should be checked by a Synthesis service center.
  • Battery Replacement: The remote control batteries (2x AAA) can be replaced by removing the battery cover on the back side. Alkaline batteries are recommended for longer life.
  • Environmental Information: The product is made of recyclable materials. Users are advised to observe local regulations for the disposal of packaging materials, exhausted batteries, and old equipment.
  • Warranty: The warranty is void if tubes are swapped or replaced without permission from Synthesis.

The Synthesis Soprano Limited Edition is designed for a rich and immersive audio experience, built with attention to detail and quality craftsmanship in Italy.
