2) Setup
First ensure that you have a at surface to place your packaged turntable box and
enough space to unpack its content. DO NOT attempt to lift the turntable from the
box without rst removing the packaging in accordance with the following instruction.
Remember to retain the box and its packaging for transporting your turntable in
future.
First open the box from the top. The AC plug top power supply, pair of phono cables
and the tonearm counterweight are located in the top foam piece. Remove these items
and place them carefully to one side. Similarly, remove the belt and platter from the
next foam piece. The next layer of foam is a spacer to protect the top side of the z-
type dust cover. This foam spacer can likewise be removed with the z-type dust cover.
Next remove the foam piece located on the hub. The turntable unit with attached
earth lead and hub can be lifted from the box in its polythene bag onto a clear at
surface.
Next remove the turntable from its polythene bag and check that the label on the
underside of the turntable corresponds with the local AC power supply. Also check that
the AC power supply is the correct type for your local outlet sockets. Please contact
your authorised Edwards Audio dealer immediately if you require a replacement AC
power supply.
Your turntable has been pre-assembled. Remove the piece of cardboard from the
underside of the hub. Next place the belt around the pulley and guide it over the hub -
it may help to rotate the hub. Be careful not to stretch the belt as this may cause it to
break. The platter can then be placed and located securely over the spindle of the
hub.
Lastly, if your turntable was supplied with a tted cartridge, the tracking weight will
need to be set using the counterweight (see Page 9 for information on ‘Setting the
tracking weight’). If your turntable has not been supplied with a tted cartridge, see
Page 7 for a step-by-step guide on ‘Arm cartridge set-up’.
Edwards Audio turntables are not supplied with a mat as this in our opinion impairs
sound quality. Remember to consider the surface on which you place your turntable as
this will aect its performance. An isolation platform can greatly enhance the
performance of your turntable. Generally, a surface made from wood will be better
than harder surfaces such as glass or stone. Wall mounts can also help if you have a
wooden oor on joists.
