Overview

The Rec35_Smart5_HDG is a three-phase automatic circuit recloser designed for pole-mounted and substation applications, capable of operating at a maximum voltage of 38 kV. It is designed for robust performance in various environmental conditions, featuring a corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy housing with an IP65 degree of protection for its secondary circuits.

Function Description

The device functions as an automatic circuit recloser, providing protection and control for electrical distribution networks. It is designed to automatically interrupt and reclose a circuit after a fault, helping to restore power quickly and minimize outages. The recloser integrates current and voltage sensing capabilities, allowing for precise acquisition of phase and neutral currents, as well as accurate voltage measurements on both source and load side terminals. This enables the implementation of power quality monitoring and network self-healing algorithms.

The core of the recloser is its Outdoor Switching Module (OSM), which comprises two main parts: the pole, containing primary circuits, and the basement, which handles mounting and interface functions. The pole incorporates breaker contacts, supporting insulation, and current and voltage sensors, all cast into silicon rubber for enhanced durability and insulation.

A key feature is the single-coil magnetic actuator, which provides a reliable mechanical structure for the vacuum circuit breaker. This design ensures direct and linear mechanical movements, minimizing contact discrepancy during closing and electrical or mechanical tripping. This design avoids common failure points associated with mechanical latching, gears, chains, bearings, levers, and separate tripping/closing coils or spring-charging motors.

The vacuum interrupters are compact and designed for excellent mechanical, voltage withstand, and current breaking capabilities. They utilize a specially designed axial magnetic field distribution to ensure even current density over the contact surface, significantly improving vacuum interrupting performance and extending the module's lifetime to 30 years.

The recloser includes a mechanical trip and lockout mechanism, located on the right side of the mechanism enclosure. When pulled down, this hook mechanically opens the OSM, locks it in the OPEN position, and electrically isolates it from the driver. The module remains locked until the trip hook is pushed back into the operating position. Main contact position indicators, visible at the rear and bottom of the enclosure, show red "I" for closed contacts and green "O" for open contacts.

A safe trip device is available, working with an SEL-651R 42-pin Tavrida Electric recloser interface with a 120VAC or 230VAC power supply. This device ensures recloser tripping in cases of SEL-651R relay malfunction or disconnection of the connection cable, even if the main umbilical cable is disconnected. It uses a 120uF capacitor to store energy for tripping, providing operation for up to 12 hours after AC power loss at 20°C, with reduced duration at lower temperatures.

Usage Features

The Rec35_Smart5_HDG is delivered pre-assembled in a metal crate with mounting hardware and accessories. It features 4-hole NEMA pads with 125 and 145-degree angles for cable terminal installation, secured with M12 Socket head bolts tightened to 40 Nm. Custom-designed wildlife protective covers are available to prevent outages caused by animal contact.

The recloser mounting kit includes provisions for surge arrestors, power transformers, and protective earthing. Lifting lugs are provided for vertical lifting, and it is recommended to assemble the recloser on the ground before mounting to the pole.

Secondary connections are made via an Amphenol GTS07R-28-21S connector (37 pin) on the side of the enclosure. If a junction box is part of the supply, the connection to the recloser control is made through this box using a Harting 42-pin Han-DD type terminal.

Maintenance Features

Under normal operating conditions, the Outdoor Switching Module is designed to be maintenance-free for at least 30 years or until it reaches its permissible number of operating cycles.

Commissioning tests include verifying compliance with rating plate requirements, checking for damage, ensuring proper bolted connections (including torques), and confirming protective earthing. The manual trip mechanism must also be checked for correct operation.

The device is manufactured from environmentally friendly materials, so no special disposal is required. All manufacturing facilities are certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and BS OHSAS 18001:2007, ensuring high quality and reliability. Routine tests include visual and functionality checks, mechanical operation tests (1000 C-O cycles), dielectric withstand tests, partial discharge tests, main circuit resistance measurements, and sensor calibration.

The warranty period is 5 years from the invoice date, unless otherwise specified in the contract. Warranty is voided if the warranty period expires during storage, operating/ambient/transport/storage conditions do not match the technical manual, unauthorized manipulation occurs, or the device is improperly installed.
