Solenoid Valve Troubleshooting
Expected results with metering valves o u t o f adjustment:
AXV: Too low will cause lower evaporator temperatures, possibly freezing the water chiller.
Too high will cause longer run timer, warmer evaporator, and warmer product
temperatures.
EPR: Too low will cause the cabinet temperatures to get too cold or to freeze.
Too high will cause longer run times, and cause the cabinet temperature to exceed 45°F
(7.2°C).
Solenoid Valve Failure Troubleshooting:
Chiller Liquid Solenoi d
1. Stuck closed: a. Water will not get cold.
b. Suction pressure will drop or go into a vacuum.
c. The compressor will go out on internal overload.
2. Stuck open / leaking: a. The chiller will continue to get colder and freeze the
water.
Cabinet Liquid Solenoid
1. Stuck closed: a. The cabinet will continue to get warmer.
2. Stuck open / leaking: a. The cabinet will get too cold and freeze the
concentrate.
Chiller Suction Solenoid
1. Stuck closed: a. The water will not get cold.
2. Stuck open / leaking: a. The water will continue to get colder when the
cabinet is cooling and the water will freeze.
