68 OWNER’S MANUAL
TOE CLIPS AND TOE STRAPS
Toe clips and straps are used to assist with the
correct positioning of your feet on the pedals
and to help your riding technique. The toe clip
positions the ball of the foot over the pedal
spindle, which gives maximum pedalling power.
The toe strap, when tightened, keeps the foot
engaged throughout the rotation cycle of the
pedal.
Getting into and out of pedals with toe clips and
straps requires skill which can only be acquired
with practice. Do not ride in trafc or around
other hazards until you can use toe clips and
straps as a reex action. Never ride in trafc with
your toe straps tight.
CLIPLESS PEDALS
Clipless pedals are usually adjustable. Your
bicycle retailer can show you how to make this
adjustment.
