Usage Features:
- Charging: The camera charges via a Micro USB cable. A red LED indicates charging, which turns off when fully charged. It's recommended to charge via mains or a power bank, as computer/laptop charging may not fully charge the device. The camera can record while charging with a portable power bank.
- Power On/Off: A long press (3 seconds) of the key button turns the camera on or off. The camera vibrates upon startup.
- Recording: Once powered on, the white recording LED illuminates, and the camera automatically enters recording mode, indicated by a slow flash. A fast flash suggests an SD card issue (not inserted correctly, faulty, or needs formatting).
- Wi-Fi Connectivity: To enable Wi-Fi, short press the key button twice quickly. The blue Wi-Fi LED will flash to indicate pairing mode. If not connected to a mobile device within one minute, Wi-Fi automatically switches off. Connection is made through device settings, locating the "DC-1" option, and using the default password "12345678". The blue LED turns solid when connected.
- Mobile App Integration: The camera connects to mobile devices via the "roadcam" app (iOS and Android) or "viidure" app (Android only). The app allows for live view (split-screen front and rear), settings adjustment, video/photo management, and file download.
- SD Card Management: Supports up to 128GB SD cards. New 64GB or 128GB cards may require in-camera reformatting. Reformatting is done by turning on the camera with the SD card inserted and quickly pressing the key button 5 times. A successful format is indicated by vibration and a steady white LED flash.
- Video Loop Recording: Users can set loop recording segments to 1, 3, 5, or 10 minutes. Selecting 'off' will stop recording when the card is full, with a segment length of 15 minutes.
- Emergency Recording: The wireless controller features a RED BUTTON to lock and save the current video file to an emergency folder in the app, preventing it from being overwritten.
- Photo Capture: The wireless controller also has a BLUE BUTTON to take a photo/image, which is saved to the photo folder in the app.
- Video and Photo Playback/Download: Through the app, users can view recorded videos and photos. Files can be selected and downloaded to the mobile device's memory/photo album. Basic editing options like trimming and music overlay are available for videos.
- Microphone Sensitivity: Adjustable to Low, Medium, or High levels via a firmware update. The camera comes pre-set to Medium.
- Viewing Files on Computer: Files can be accessed by removing the SD card and inserting it into a computer via a TF adapter, or by connecting the camera directly to a computer using the provided USB cable.
- Mounting: The DC-1 uses generic action camera mounts, with main mounts included for fixing to riding hats, motorcycle helmets, or cycle helmets. Tutorial videos for mounting are available on the Techalogic support page.
- Battery Extension: Battery life can be extended using an optional Techalogic Power Bank via a micro USB lead.
- Weatherproofing: For wet weather use with a USB battery extension lead, an optional 'USB waterproof Rubber Pack' is required to maintain the IP rating.
Maintenance Features:
- SD Card Formatting: The camera allows for in-camera formatting of the SD card, which deletes all recordings and photos.
- Firmware Updates: Firmware updates can be performed to adjust settings like microphone sensitivity.
- Restore Factory Settings: An option to reset the camera back to its original factory settings is available through the app.
- Troubleshooting: The user manual and Techalogic's support page (including video tutorials) are provided for assistance with common issues. Direct email and phone support are also available.
