Quick reference Starter Set
Download the App
Download the MOBILE-ALERTS app from "Apple
App Store" or "Google Play".
Connect the Gateway
Connect gateway to power supply using the
supplied AC adapter. Connect included LAN cable
with gateway and your router. After about 10
seconds, the Gateway is in operation. The LED will
turn static green.
If no DHCP server is available in your network, you
can configure the gateway in the app
under the
point “Settings” manually.
Important: The Gateway
should always be put
into operation before starting the sensors!
Sensor set up
Open the battery compartment of the temperature
sensor and put in 2x AAA batteries with the correct
polarity. The sensor now sends its measurements
for several times in short intervals and then every
7 minutes.
Add sensor
Open the app, dashboard is displayed. The sensor
Hannover is only for testing purposes and may be
deleted. Tap "Add new sensor" and scan the QR
code on the back of the temperature sensor. Then
set a name for the sensor. To set a name, select
the transmitter and then tap on the left area of the
pencil icon in the upper right.
Read measurements
Now you can read the measurements on your
mobile phone.
Troubleshooting
When no sensor readings are displayed in the app,
check if the green LED on the gateway is
permanently lit. If not, please check if:
- The gateway is properly connected to the power
plug, the router and is turned on.
- The batteries in the temperature sensor are
inserted with the correct polarity.
- Restart the sensor by removing the batteries for a
minute and reinserting, to restart the sensor.
- Your phone is connected to the internet.
- The signal is weakened by thick walls and
ceilings. Put the sensor in operation near the
gateway and then locate a suitable location.

Old batteries do not belong into
general household waste because they
could cause damages of health and
environment. You can return used batteries free of
charge to your dealer and collection points. As
end-user you are obliged by law to bring back used
batteries to distributors and other collecting points!
This symbol signifies that you must
dispose electrical devices separately
from the general household waste when
it reaches the end of its useful life. Take
your electronic to your local waste collection point
or recycling centre. This applies to all countries of
the European Union, and to other European
countries with a separate waste collection system.

Overview

The MOBILE-ALERTS system is a smart home monitoring solution that allows users to read measurements from various sensors directly on their mobile phone. This quick reference guide provides essential steps for setting up and using the system, along with troubleshooting tips and important information regarding maintenance and disposal.

Function Description

The core function of the MOBILE-ALERTS system is to provide remote monitoring of environmental conditions, such as temperature, through a network of sensors and a central gateway. The system is designed to be user-friendly, allowing for easy setup and access to data via a dedicated mobile application. Once set up, the temperature sensor measures the ambient temperature and transmits this data wirelessly to the gateway. The gateway then sends this information to the cloud, making it accessible through the MOBILE-ALERTS app on your smartphone. This allows users to keep track of conditions in their home or other monitored locations from anywhere with an internet connection. The system is particularly useful for monitoring areas where continuous oversight is beneficial, such as refrigerators, freezers, or rooms where temperature stability is critical.

Usage Features

The MOBILE-ALERTS system is designed for straightforward use, from initial setup to daily monitoring.

  • App Download: The first step to using the system is to download the "MOBILE-ALERTS" app, available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play. This app serves as the central interface for managing sensors, viewing data, and configuring settings.
  • Gateway Connection: The gateway is the hub of the system. To connect it, plug the supplied AC adapter into the gateway and a power outlet, then connect the included LAN cable from the gateway to your router. After approximately 10 seconds, the gateway will be operational, indicated by a static green LED. This ensures the gateway has an internet connection to transmit sensor data.
  • Manual Gateway Configuration: In scenarios where a DHCP server is not available on your network, the gateway can be manually configured through the "Settings" section within the app. This provides flexibility for users with specific network setups.
  • Sensor Setup: To activate a sensor, open its battery compartment and insert 2x AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Once batteries are inserted, the sensor will begin transmitting measurements at short intervals initially, then settle into a regular transmission interval of every 7 minutes.
  • Adding Sensors to the App: After setting up the physical sensor, you need to add it to your app. Open the app, and the dashboard will be displayed. The "Hannover" sensor shown by default is for testing purposes and can be deleted. To add your new sensor, tap "Add new sensor" and scan the QR code located on the back of the temperature sensor. After scanning, you can assign a custom name to the sensor for easy identification. This is done by selecting the transmitter in the app and tapping the pencil icon in the upper right corner.
  • Reading Measurements: Once sensors are added and active, you can view their measurements directly on your mobile phone through the app. The app provides a convenient dashboard to display current readings from all your connected sensors.
  • Optimal Sensor Placement: For best performance, it is recommended to initially put the sensor into operation near the gateway. Once it's confirmed to be working, you can then move it to its desired location. This helps in identifying any signal strength issues early on.

Maintenance Features

Maintaining the MOBILE-ALERTS system primarily involves ensuring proper connectivity and power for both the gateway and sensors, along with addressing signal issues.

  • Gateway Connectivity Check: If sensor readings are not displayed in the app, the first troubleshooting step is to check if the green LED on the gateway is permanently lit. A continuously lit green LED indicates proper operation. If it's not lit, verify that the gateway is correctly connected to its power plug, the router, and is turned on.
  • Sensor Battery Check: Ensure that the batteries in the temperature sensor are inserted with the correct polarity. Incorrect battery insertion is a common cause of sensor malfunction.
  • Sensor Restart: If a sensor is not transmitting data, you can restart it by removing its batteries for one minute and then reinserting them. This often resolves minor communication glitches.
  • Internet Connection Verification: Confirm that your mobile phone is connected to the internet. The app requires an internet connection to retrieve data from the MOBILE-ALERTS cloud server.
  • Signal Strength Optimization: Thick walls and ceilings can weaken the wireless signal between the sensor and the gateway. If you experience signal issues, try placing the sensor closer to the gateway or in a location with fewer obstructions. As mentioned, initially setting up the sensor near the gateway can help identify and mitigate these issues early.
  • Battery Replacement: The temperature sensor uses 2x AAA alkaline batteries, which typically last for approximately 2 years. When the batteries are depleted, they should be replaced to ensure continuous operation.
  • Disposal of Old Batteries and Devices: It is crucial to dispose of old batteries and electrical devices responsibly. Old batteries should not be discarded with general household waste as they can harm health and the environment. They should be returned to your dealer or designated collection points. Similarly, electrical devices, when they reach the end of their useful life, must be disposed of separately from general household waste. They should be taken to local waste collection points or recycling centers, in accordance with regulations in the European Union and other regions with separate waste collection systems. This commitment to responsible disposal is highlighted by the CE mark and the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol on the product.
