Overview

This document describes the CS 310 Quick Start Guide (Stock Code: 40-4310), a control system for door operators, focusing on its programming, connection, and status indication features.

Function Description

The CS 310 is a control board designed to manage the operation of door operators. It features automatic detection of connected devices (limit switches, safety edges, etc.) upon power-up, entering a Programming Mode to allow for initial setup. The system supports both digital and mechanical limit setting, motor direction control, and various safety and command inputs. It provides relay outputs for controlling external devices and includes a status LED for diagnostics.

Important Technical Specifications

Power Supply:

  • Mains Input:
    • 1ph/230VAC/Neutral/50Hz (6A Max.)
    • 3ph/400VAC/Neutral*/50Hz (6A Max.)
    • A voltage selector (F1) allows switching between 230V and 400V. This must be correctly set prior to applying power to prevent damage.
  • Auxiliary Output (X19): 230VAC 1A Fused Aux Output for external devices.
  • DC Output: 24VDC for various inputs and accessories.

Inputs:

  • Digital Limits: Utilizes an RS485 Encoder (Kostal, Stock Code: 40-4006) connected via X11.
  • Mechanical Limits: Connects via X15.
  • Safety Devices (X4):
    • Programmable Input 1 (IN1): 24V, default for Auto-Close Off/On switch. Can be linked to disable 15s Auto-Close.
    • Programmable Input 2 (IN2): 12V.
    • Supports various safety edges: Transmitter (White), Optical Safety Edge (Green), Receiver (Brown), Electric Edge (Black), Pneumatic Safety Edge.
    • Radio Safety Edge System connector (X20).
  • Command Inputs (X3):
    • Close Pushbutton
    • Open Pushbutton
    • Common
    • Stop Pushbutton
    • Emergency Stop
    • Impulse
  • Other Inputs:
    • External ON/OFF switch connector (X6).
    • Pushbutton connector (X7).
    • LCD Display connector (X8).
    • Radio Receiver connector (X9).
    • 24/7 Weekly Timer (under plastic cover) (X10).
    • Ext. Radio Rec. / Loop Detector connector (X12).
    • Lid Mounted CS Pushbutton connector (X13).
    • CSI Interface for Pushbutton / Programmer (X14).
    • MS BUS System connector (X16, X17).
    • Inverter Control Interface (X18).
    • Thermal Trip input.

Outputs:

  • Motor Terminals (X2): U, V, W for 1ph or 3ph motors.
  • Relay Output Terminals (X5): Four volt-free relay outputs (Relay 1, 2, 3, 4) with Com and N/O connections.

User Interface:

  • On-board Buttons: '+', '-', 'P' for programming and control.
  • LED Indicators:
    • LED1 (Green): Power / Run LED.
    • LED2 (Red): Status / Error LED.
  • Optional LCD Programmer Display: (Stock Code: 40-1045) connects to X8.

Usage Features

Programming Digital Limits:

  1. Upon power-up, the controller automatically detects connected devices and enters Programming Mode (slow-flashing Red LED).
  2. Run the door to the Open position, then press 'P' & '+' together to save. The Red LED flashes rapidly for 1 second.
  3. Run the door to the Close position, then press 'P' & '-' together to save. The Red LED flashes rapidly for 1 second.
  4. The system exits Programming Mode, and the Red LED stops flashing.
  5. To re-enter Programming Mode, press 'P' for at least 2 seconds.

Setting Mechanical Limits:

  1. Upon power-up, the controller enters Programming Mode (slow-flashing Red LED).
  2. Use '+' to run the door to the Open position and adjust the Open Limit cam.
  3. Use '-' to run the door to the Close position and adjust the Close Limit cam.
  4. Once both limits are set, press 'P' for at least 2 seconds. The system exits Programming Mode, and the Red LED stops flashing.

Changing Motor Direction:

  • If the motor drives in the wrong direction (e.g., opens when Close is pressed), remove power and interchange two incoming supply phases.
  • If the operator is reverse mounted or normal open rotation is reversed, press '+' & '-' buttons for 5 seconds in limit programming mode to reverse motor direction. The Red LED flashes rapidly to indicate the change. The limit programming procedure may then be restarted.

Resetting Limits:

  1. Enter Programming Mode by pressing 'P' for at least 2 seconds (Red LED flashes slowly).
  2. Adjust the required limit position(s).
  3. Exit Programming by pressing 'P' for at least 2 seconds.
    • Note: If both Open & Close Limits are already set, it's possible to change only one position without reprogramming both.

Resetting the Control Panel (Factory Defaults):

  1. This may be required if the CS310 was powered without the correct limit type connected (e.g., digital limit encoder unplugged) or used in a previous installation.
  2. To initiate the reset, press & hold 'P' and '-' pushbuttons as power is turned back on.
  3. Keep both buttons pressed until the Green L.E.D. turns on (approx. 10s). The CS310 will then re-start.

Maintenance Features

L.E.D. Status for Diagnostics: The Red Error LED (LED2) provides diagnostic feedback through flash codes:

  • Off: No Supply present.
  • 1 x Flash (Error STOP): Stop circuit interrupted. Check Manual Override & any Stop pushbuttons/Circuits. Acknowledge by pressing Stop; restart by pressing the button.
  • 2 x Flash (Error RS485): System stopped; Encoder communication error. Acknowledge by pressing Stop; restart by pressing the button.
  • 3 x Flash (Error Travel Limit): System stopped and no door movement possible. Disconnect the P.C.B. from power, reprogram travel limit positions.
  • 4 x Flash (Error Motor Direction): System stopped and no door movement possible; Phase rotation is incorrect. Reverse motor direction as per 'Changing Motor Direction' procedure.
  • 5 x Flash (Error Power): System stopped. Acknowledge by pressing Stop; restart is possible by pressing the button.
  • 6 x Flash (Error Running Time): System stopped. Acknowledge by pressing Stop; restart is possible by pressing the button.
  • ON (Safety Edge Fault / Not connected): Deadman close only possible. Check safety edge connections or install safety edge for impulse close.

Important Notes for Maintenance:

  • After an error has been cleared, the P.C.B. must be powered Off & On again for the change to take effect.
  • Ensure the shield of the encoder cable is connected to Earth.
  • Inputs 1 & 2 use different voltages (12V and 24V). Incorrect connection can damage the P.C.B.
  • The auxiliary 230VAC supply on X19 is protected by a 1A delay fuse (F1).
  • For 3ph Mains Supply, while Neutral is not required for the control board, it prevents the use of the auxiliary 230VAC supply provided on X19.
  • Installation should only be carried out by a COMPETENT installer.
