Overview

This document is a user manual for a TECO top-load washing machine, model TWM80TBM, designed for indoor use. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, operation, and maintenance, emphasizing safety throughout.

Function Description

The TECO TWM80TBM is a washing machine designed to clean textiles suitable for machine washing. It operates with a pulsator washing type and offers various programs and customizable settings to accommodate different types of laundry and user preferences. The machine is equipped with a control panel that allows users to select programs, adjust water levels, set temperatures (Hot, Warm, Cold), and utilize a delay function. It also features a child lock to prevent unintended operation. The washing process includes multiple stages such as washing, rinsing, and spinning, which can be selected individually or in combination.

Usage Features

The washing machine is designed for ease of use, with a straightforward operational sequence. Before the first wash, it is recommended to run the machine through a full cycle without clothes to ensure proper installation and function.

Preparation Before Washing:

  1. Plug in: Connect the power cord to an earthed three-pole socket.
  2. Open tap: Ensure the water supply is turned on.
  3. Load clothes: Place laundry into the drum, taking care not to overload.
  4. Add detergent & close door lid: Dispense the appropriate amount of detergent and softener into their respective compartments and close the top lid.

Washing Process:

  1. Power On: Turn on the machine using the On/Off button.
  2. Select Programme: Choose from available washing programs such as Standard (Normal), Quick, Spin Only, Heavy, Anti-crease, and Jeans. Each program is tailored for specific fabric types and soil levels.
  3. Select Level: Adjust the water level according to the clothing categories, degree of soiling, and washing habits. Water levels range from 1 (lowest) to 6 (highest).
  4. Start up: Press the Start/Pause button to begin the selected washing cycle.

Personalized Setting of Washing Program:

Users can customize their wash by selecting individual functions:

  • Water Level: Choose from 1 to 6 levels.
  • Function: Select single or a combination of washing, rinsing, and spinning.
  • Temp.: Regulate water temperature to Hot, Warm, or Cold.
  • Delay: Set a delayed start time from 0 to 48 hours. To cancel the delay, press the Delay button until the display shows "0H" before the program starts. If the program has already started, press the On/Off button to reset.

Operations of Washing Process (Single Process or Combination):

The machine allows for single processes or combinations:

  • Wash: Power on, then repeatedly press the "Function" key until only the wash light is on, then start.
  • Spin: Power on, then repeatedly press the "Function" key until only the spinning light is on, then start.
  • Wash + Rinse + Spin: Power on, then repeatedly press the "Function" key until washing, rinsing, and spinning lights are on, then start. Other process combinations follow a similar logic.

Detergent Usage:

  • Use liquid or powdered detergent suitable for machine washing, especially for drum-type machines.
  • Follow instructions on the detergent package.
  • For detergents that don't dissolve well, warm water dilution is suggested to prevent blockages and overflows.
  • Choose detergents appropriate for the selected washing temperature to optimize performance and minimize water and energy consumption.

Loading Guidelines:

  • Check clothing labels for recommended wash options.
  • Empty all pockets of items like coins, brooches, nails, screws, or stones to prevent damage to the machine.
  • Knot ribbons and cords to protect them from damage.
  • Place small clothes into a pillow slip for protection.
  • Turn clothes inside out to prevent pilling.
  • Separate clothes with different textures.
  • Avoid washing single items in spin cycle to prevent imbalance; add one or two more clothes for balance.
  • Do not wash items soaked in flammable materials like kerosene, gasoline, or alcohol.

After Washing:

The machine will beep upon completion, and the power supply will automatically cut off. Users can then unload the laundry.

Safety Instructions:

The manual highlights critical safety warnings:

  • Electric Shock: Do not use if the supply cord is damaged; it must be replaced by qualified personnel. Ensure openings are not obstructed. The appliance is for indoor use only and should not be placed in humid areas. The power plug must be inserted into an earthed three-pole socket.
  • Risk to Children: Children aged 8 and above, and persons with reduced capabilities, can use the appliance under supervision. Children should not play with the appliance or perform cleaning/maintenance unsupervised. For IEC countries, supervision is required for all users with reduced capabilities.
  • Explosion Risk: Do not wash or dry items cleaned with combustible or explosive substances (wax, oil, paint, gasoline, degreasers, dry-cleaning solvents, kerosene). Thoroughly rinse such items by hand beforehand.
  • Injury Risk: Do not insert hands into the running spin-dry tub. If the tub doesn't stop within 15 seconds of opening the cover, stop use and seek repair.
  • Hot Surfaces: The machine can become very hot during operation; keep children and pets away.
  • Water Connection: Single inlet valve machines connect to cold water only. Double inlet valve machines connect to both hot and cold water supplies.
  • Installation: Remove all packaging and transport bolts before use. Plug must be accessible after installation.
  • Damaging Appliance: The product is for home use and textiles suitable for machine washing. Do not climb on or lean against the machine door. Do not close the door with excessive force. Do not wash carpets.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for extending the washing machine's working life and ensuring optimal performance.

Cleaning and Care:

  • General Cleaning: Unplug the machine and close the tap before any maintenance. The cabinet surface can be cleaned with diluted non-abrasive neutral detergents. Wipe off any water overflow immediately with a wet cloth. Avoid using sharp items.
  • Forbidden Substances: Do not use formic acid, its diluted solvents, alcohol, or other chemical products for cleaning.

Cleaning the Inlet Filter:

  • The inlet filter should be cleaned if there is low water pressure.
  • Procedure:
    1. Screw off the inlet pipe from the back of the machine.
    2. Pull out the filter with long-nose pliers.
    3. Use a brush to clean the filter.
    4. Reinstall the filter and reconnect the inlet pipe.

Lint Filter Clean:

  • The built-in lint filter collects lint during the wash cycle.
  • It is recommended to clean the lint filter every 10 cycles.
  • Procedure:
    1. Take out the filter.
    2. Clean it with water.
    3. Place it back into the washer.

Cleaning Drain Pump Filter:

  • The drain pump filter traps yarns and small foreign matters. It should be cleaned periodically to ensure normal operation.
  • Warning: Be careful of hot water; allow detergent solution to cool down. Unplug the machine to avoid electrical shock.
  • Procedure:
    1. Drain water from the pump into a container.
    2. Open the filter by turning it counter-clockwise.
    3. Remove any foreign matter.
    4. Clean the filter.
    5. Restore and adjust the convex place to align with the pump hole.
    6. Tighten the pump cover clockwise.
  • Caution: Ensure the valve cap and emergency drain hose (if present) are reinstalled properly to prevent leaks. If the machine does not have an emergency drain hose, rotate the lower cover cap directly to drain water into a basin. Never remove the pump cover during a wash cycle if there is hot water; wait until the cycle is finished and the machine is empty. Ensure the cover is securely re-tightened.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues, including:

  • No washing: Check power, fuse, voltage, water level, and delay settings.
  • No water flows in: Check power, fuse, water supply, water pressure, inlet hose connection, tap opening, and inlet valve filter/coil.
  • Abnormal draining: Check drain hose placement (not too high or submerged), and if the internal rubber ring of the drain valve is blocked.
  • Abnormal spin: Check if the door lid is open, if clothes are piled unevenly or excessively, if the washer is unstable, or if the motor belt is loose.

Alarm Codes:

The display shows specific alarm codes for problems:

  • E1: Abnormal water intake (check tap and inlet filter).
  • E2: Lid not closed before wash/spin (close lid).
  • E3: Unbalanced wash load (manually balance clothes).
  • E4: Water drain not finished (check water level sensor and drain pump filter).
  • EXX: Other issues (try again, then contact service).

After checking and resolving an issue, reactivate the appliance. If the problem persists or alarm codes reappear, contact service.

Repairs, Service & Warranty:

  • Only an Authorized Service Person should install, remove, alter, repair, service, or test the appliance.
  • Contact TECO Australia's Service for issues not resolved by troubleshooting.
  • Warranty information and service contact details are provided.
