This document provides instructions and guidelines for the Tefal Cube UR20XX steam unit, a product designed for domestic and indoor use.
Function Description:
The Tefal Cube UR20XX is a steam unit designed for ironing and steaming garments. It generates steam to remove wrinkles from clothing and other fabrics. The device features an iron with a soleplate, a steam hose connecting the iron to the main steam unit, and a removable water tank. It offers different operating modes, including MAX, ECO, and NORMAL, to suit various ironing needs. The appliance is equipped with safety features such as an auto-off system for inactivity and mechanisms to prevent pressure build-up and overheating.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Voltage: 220 V to 240 V (Alternating current only).
- Power: For appliances > 2200W, it is recommended to connect to a power supply system with a maximum impedance of 0.29 Ω.
- Water Type: Designed for use with untreated tap water. For very hard water (above 30°F, 17°dH, or 21°e), a 50% tap water and 50% distilled water mixture is recommended. In seaside regions with high salt content, bottled water with a low mineral level should be used. Softened water can be used, but if white or brown runs occur, non-treated tap water or bottled water is advised.
- Safety Systems: Includes a valve to prevent pressure build-up and a thermal fuse to prevent overheating.
- Auto-off System: The steam unit enters standby mode after 8 minutes of inactivity and switches off completely after 38 minutes of inactivity.
Usage Features:
- First Use: Before first use, it is important to read the safety instructions. During initial use, fumes, odor, and small particles may be emitted, which are normal and will disappear quickly. The appliance must be placed on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. The iron should always be placed on its iron rest, not directly on the ironing board or the steam unit on the board.
- Filling the Water Tank: The water tank is removable for easy filling. The appliance should be unplugged before filling. If the "WATER" light flashes, the tank needs refilling, and the "OK" button should be pressed to reset the light.
- Power On/Off: The appliance is switched on via an On/Off button. Users should wait until the indicator light stops flashing before use.
- Steam Generation: Steam is activated by pressing the steam trigger on the iron.
- Steam Boost: A steam boost function can be activated by pressing the steam trigger three times.
- Mode Selection: The "STEAM" button allows switching between MAX (flashing light), ECO (steady light), and NORMAL (light off) modes.
- Safety Precautions:
- Never iron or steam directly on a garment being worn.
- Always handle the iron with care, especially when using the vertical steam function.
- Never steam clothing worn by a person; always steam it on a hanger.
- Avoid ironing in a seated position with legs below the ironing board.
- Do not direct steam towards people or animals.
- Do not unplug the appliance by pulling the power cord.
- Never fill the appliance directly from the tap.
- The appliance must not be left unattended while connected to the mains.
- Keep the appliance and its power cord out of reach of children under 8 years of age.
- Hot surfaces can cause burns; avoid touching accessible metal and adjacent plastic parts.
- Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.
- Be careful of heat and steam when using the appliance.
- Iron Rest Use: The iron and its iron rest should be positioned on the steam unit. When using an ironing board, the iron should always be placed on the iron rest, not on the board itself. The steam unit should always be on the ground and stable when moving the appliance around.
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning:
- Before cleaning, switch off the appliance and wait approximately 1 hour for it to cool down completely.
- The soleplate should be cleaned with a damp soft cloth or sponge.
- Never use abrasive products or surfaces to clean the soleplate.
- Descaling (Anticalc):
- When the appliance needs descaling, the "anti calc" light indicator will flash.
- The manual outlines a specific descaling process, which involves unplugging the appliance, waiting 2 hours for it to cool down, and then loosening the drainage/collector cap.
- It is crucial not to use descaling products like vinegar or industrial descalers, as they can damage the boiler. Only use decalcifying products specified in the instruction manual.
- If the cap or drainage cap is damaged, it must be replaced by an approved service center.
- Filling, decalcifying, rinsing, or inspection apertures under pressure must not be opened during use.
- Storage:
- Before storing, switch off the appliance and wait approximately 1 hour for it to cool down completely.
- Empty the water tank before tidying the product.
- Troubleshooting: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues such as water dripping, water marks on laundry, dirty soleplate, flashing indicator lights, and the appliance not turning on. Solutions include cleaning the boiler, refilling the water tank, pressing the "OK" button, and allowing the appliance to reach ambient temperature if stored in a cold area.
- Service: In case of damage, malfunction, or if the power cord or steam cord is damaged, the appliance must be taken to an approved service center. Do not attempt to dismantle the appliance. All accessories, consumables, and removable parts should be purchased from an approved service center.
