Overview

The Teleco TVPLS868TT3 (868.3 MHz) and TVPLS916TT3 (916 MHz) are 24Vdc control units with integrated radio receivers designed to manage a single 24Vdc motor for adjustable slats, typically found in pergolas or similar automated covers. These units are engineered for precise control and integration with various environmental sensors, offering a comprehensive solution for automated shading and weather protection.

Function Description:

The primary function of the TVPLS control unit is to operate a 24Vdc motor, enabling the adjustment of slats for pergolas. This adjustment can be initiated via radio transmitters or wired inputs. The system incorporates self-learning capabilities for limit switches and working times, simplifying initial setup and ensuring accurate slat positioning.

A key feature of the TVPLS is its integration with environmental sensors:

  • Rain Sensor: Detects drops of water on its sensitive surface. When activated, the control unit automatically closes the pergola slats completely to protect against rain. During a rain alarm, the L1 indicator turns ON, and the unit will not accept any further commands until the rain sensor no longer detects rain.
  • Wind Sensor (ANEM4): Measures wind speed and compares it against a user-defined threshold set via DIP switches (DIP3-DIP4). If the wind speed exceeds the threshold, the control unit will adjust the pergola slats to 50% of their full opening to mitigate wind damage. During a wind alarm, the LED flashes, and the unit will not execute any commands until the wind speed drops below the threshold for at least 30 seconds. The unit is compatible with anemometers generating 4 pulses per revolution.
  • Temperature Sensor (NTC 10K/3435K): Monitors ambient temperature to detect the risk of ice formation. If the temperature drops below 2°C and the pergola is closed, the unit will tilt the slats to 10% of their full opening to prevent ice accumulation. The alarm deactivates if the temperature rises above 3°C or a new command is received.
  • Snow Condition: This advanced feature combines inputs from both the temperature sensor and the rain sensor to detect snow. If the temperature is below 2°C and rain (indicating snow) is detected, the control unit will adjust the pergola slats to 66% of their full opening. During a snow alarm, the L1 indicator flashes, and the unit will only accept hold-to-run commands. The alarm deactivates if the temperature rises above 3°C or rain is no longer detected, or if an automatic movement command is received from a transmitter.

The unit also offers activation/deactivation features for the rain and snow condition sensors. The rain sensor can be temporarily deactivated for 60 minutes by pressing the "STOP" button on a memorized 7/42 or 3-channel transmitter for 10 seconds (indicated by two beeps). It can be reactivated by pressing the "STOP" button for 10 seconds (indicated by a continuous sound).

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Supply: 24Vdc
  • Max. Output Power: 4.5A (24Vdc)
  • Rain Sensor Power Supply: 12Vdc (max. 100mA)
  • Operating Temperature Range: -20°C to +50°C
  • Working Time: 90 seconds (maximum)
  • Protection Rating: IP54
  • Reception Frequency: 868.3 MHz (TVPLS868TT3) or 916 MHz (TVPLS916TT3)
  • Radio Memory Capability: 16 transmitters
  • Housing Material: Thermoplastic ABS (not suitable for direct UV exposure)
  • Dimensions: 185 mm (length) x 70 mm (width) x 56 mm (height); 151 mm (fastening holes distance) x 18 mm (fastening holes distance)

Usage Features:

  • Radio Code Memorization: The unit supports various types of transmitters (1-button, 2 or 3-button automatic commands, and 7/42 channel transmitters). Memorization involves pressing the P1 button a specific number of times, holding it until a continuous sound is heard, and then pressing the desired button on the transmitter. Successful memorization is indicated by an intermittent sound.
  • Working Time Configuration (for 7/42 channel transmitters): This procedure is essential for 7/42 channel transmitters. It involves pressing P1 ten times and holding it for 3 seconds, then initiating a movement command (via transmitter or wired input) to allow the unit to learn the full opening and closing times. The LM indicator flashes during this process.
  • Radio Code Deletion: Individual radio codes can be deleted by pressing P1 five times and holding it, then pressing the button on the transmitter to be deleted within 10 seconds. All radio codes can be deleted by pressing P1 six times and holding it for 10 seconds.
  • Remote Memorization/Deletion: Additional radio codes can be remotely memorized or deleted using an already memorized transmitter. This involves pressing the P3 button (located inside the transmitter) a specific number of times and following a sequence of button presses on the memorized and new/to-be-deleted transmitters.
  • Wired Inputs: The unit includes inputs for rain, wind, and temperature sensors, as well as a "STOP" input for manual control.
  • LED Indicators: Various LEDs (L1, LM) provide visual feedback on the system's status, alarms, and operational modes.

Maintenance Features:

  • Periodic Checks: The product must be installed, commissioned, and periodically checked by qualified technical personnel in compliance with applicable regulations for automatic covers.
  • Correct Wiring: Before connecting the power supply, ensure that sensors and motors are correctly wired. Incorrect connections (e.g., reversed polarity) can damage motors and connected mechanical components.
  • Power Supply Requirements: The power supply must provide the required voltage and current for the device and connected motors, comply with IEC60950-1, and be protected against short circuits and overvoltages.
  • Cable Recommendations: A 2x1.5mm cable is recommended for connecting motors to the device for lengths up to 6m, while a 2x2.5mm cable is suitable for longer runs.
  • Water Infiltration Prevention: The manual provides specific instructions for wiring to prevent water infiltration into the control unit.
  • Disposal: At the end of its useful life, the product must not be disposed of as domestic waste but should be taken to a collection center for waste electrical and electronic equipment.

The Teleco TVPLS control unit is a robust and intelligent solution for managing adjustable pergola slats, offering advanced sensor integration and user-friendly programming for optimal comfort and protection against environmental elements.
