The Temtop P10/M10/M10i Air Quality Monitor is a portable device designed to assess indoor air quality by measuring various pollutants. This user manual provides comprehensive information on its functions, specifications, operation, and maintenance.
Function Description
The Temtop air quality monitor is capable of detecting and displaying concentrations of several key air pollutants. The specific functions vary by model:
- PM2.5 (Particulate Matter 2.5): All models (P10, M10, M10i) measure PM2.5, which refers to fine particles with a diameter of 2.5 microns or less. These tiny particles can be absorbed into the bloodstream and lungs, causing various health issues such as eye and nose irritation, coughing, asthma, emphysema, lung disease, heart attacks, cancer, and more.
- AQI (Air Quality Index): All models calculate AQI based on US EPA particulate pollution standards for PM2.5. AQI is a quick guide to air quality levels, indicating the cleanliness or pollution level of the air. Temtop calculates AQI according to EPA standards and focuses only on PM2.5 and PM10.
- TVOC (Total Volatile Organic Compounds): M10 and M10i models measure TVOCs, which are various common VOCs including benzene, toluene, styrene, and formaldehyde. Long-term exposure to TVOC can cause damage to the skin, liver, kidney, central nervous system, etc.
- HCHO (Formaldehyde): M10 and M10i models measure HCHO, a colorless, strong-smelling chemical classified as a Group 1 carcinogen. Long-term exposure can cause chronic respiratory disease, nasopharyngeal cancer, colon cancer, brain tumors, and nuclear genetic mutations.
- Wi-Fi Connectivity: The M10i model includes Wi-Fi functionality, allowing for additional features like remote monitoring and data management through an accompanying app.
The device provides real-time readings of these pollutants, allowing users to monitor their indoor environment and take necessary actions to improve air quality.

- The indicator light flashes yellow during charging and is always green when charging is complete.
- If the battery level shows low, charge the detector promptly to avoid affecting use.
- Do not expose the detector to heavily contaminated environments for long periods, as this can damage the sensor.
- Do not use the detector in wet conditions for extended periods to ensure accurate measurements.
- Do not use the detector for long periods in environments with a strong, irritating smell to ensure accurate measurements.
- Do not cover the vents of the detector and keep lint out, as the particle sensor may not work correctly.
- Do not dismantle the unit yourself. In case of a defect, contact your dealer or service center for repair.
- Children should only use this device under adult supervision. Keep packaging materials (plastic bags, plastic wrap) out of reach of children to prevent choking hazards.
- It is normal for the detector to show higher values when first switched on or not used for an extended period. Place it in a ventilated area and turn it on for around 30 minutes before testing (for M10 or M10i).
- This product is intended for monitoring the health of the indoor environment only and should not be considered a professional measurement tool.
Maintenance Features
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of the Temtop air quality monitor.

- Press and hold the calibration button (located on the back, near the USB port) for more than 1 second using a needle tool until the HCHO icon on the screen flashes.
- Place the detector outside for 10 minutes for ventilation.
- When the HCHO icon stops flashing, calibration is complete.
- Calibration is only for M10/M10i models.
Troubleshooting (FAQ):
The manual provides guidance for common issues:
- Why is the PM2.5 reading constantly changing? PM2.5 concentrations are influenced by environmental factors like airflow, moisture, wind patterns, and sources such as smoking, cooking, vehicle emissions, and smoke from burning fuels.
- Why is the test result abnormal?
- Check that the air inlet or outlet is not covered or that liquid has entered.
- Gently shake the detector during detection to increase interaction with the surrounding air.
- If the sensor does not recover, place the detector outside in a ventilated area.
- Why is data reading unstable? Airflow changes can affect pollutant distribution. Try again in an environment with stable airflow.
- Is it possible to accelerate calibration if the detector faces the exit of the air conditioner/fan? No. High-temperature differences or airflow speed from an air conditioner/fan outlet can cause condensation or temperature changes, affecting detection performance. Place the detector outside in a cool, ventilated area.
- Why are the data readings very high/out of range when the detectors are on? Being packed in an ink-printed box may interfere with the sensor over time due to organic volatiles. Unpack and place the detector in a ventilated area to speed up data recovery.
- Why are HCHO readings inaccurate or overestimated at certain times? Temtop uses a high-precision electrochemical HCHO sensor, but its electrochemical response can also react to other gases. The manual lists common interfering gases and their relative sensitivities:
- Carbon: 1%
- Hydrogen (H₂): 0.1%
- Ethyl alcohol: 50%
- Phenols: 7%
- Sulphur dioxide (SO₂): 12%
- Ammoniak (NH₃): 0%
