Overview

This document describes the TENGYI Coffee Maker, model TY006, an espresso machine designed for domestic use.

Function Description

The TENGYI Coffee Maker is an espresso machine primarily used for brewing coffee and texturing milk for beverages like lattes and cappuccinos. It features a control panel with buttons for power, hot water, and steam, along with a knob for selecting different functions. The machine is designed to handle both single and double servings of coffee using different filter cups, and it also supports ESE Pods with an optional double-layer filter cup.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Model: TY006
  • Voltage: 120V~
  • Frequency: 60Hz
  • Coffee Temperature: 70.0 - 85.0 °C
  • Brewing Pressure: 6.0 - 10.0 bar
  • Safety Valve Parameters: 15.0 - 19.0 bar
  • Pump Parameter: 13 - 17 bar Pressure (PUMP: 15 bar)

Usage Features

The coffee maker offers several usage features for a convenient brewing experience:

Preparation:

  • Placement: The machine should be placed on a flat tabletop.
  • Water Tank: The water tank is removable for easy filling. Users should ensure the water level is between "Min" and "Max" indicators and only use cold, clean drinking water. Mineral water, milk, or other liquids should not be used.
  • Filter Selection:
    • For double coffee, a large double filter cup (2CUP) is used.
    • For single-serve coffee, a small double filter (1CUP) is used.
    • For ESE Pods, an optional POD double-layer filter cup is available.
  • Filter Placement: Filter cups are placed into the filter handle, which then aligns with a lock icon on the product and is turned to the right to secure it in the groove.
  • Coffee Powder: Fresh, finely ground espresso powder should be added to the filter cup and gently pressed level with the edge using a coffee spoon. Excess powder should be removed from the rim.

Operation:

  • Power On: The machine is started by pressing the power button. During heating, the power indicator is always on, and the hot water and steam indicators flash until the set temperature is reached, at which point all three indicators remain on, indicating standby mode.
  • Standby Mode: When in standby, the machine is ready for coffee brewing. If the knob is turned away from standby before the preheating temperature is reached, the boiler will stop heating, the pump will not work, and the hot water and steam indicators will flash rapidly. The knob must be returned to standby for heating to resume.
  • Automatic Shut-off: The appliance will automatically turn off after 40 minutes of continuous power on. It can be restarted by pressing the power button.
  • Coffee Brewing: Once all three indicators (power, hot water, steam) are on, coffee brewing can begin by turning the knob to the coffee brewing position. The pump starts for 2 seconds, stops for 2 seconds, and then works for 60 seconds before auto-off. After 1 minute of brewing, the knob should be turned back to standby to restart heating.
  • Hot Water Function: When the power, hot water, and steam indicators are on, pressing the hot water button will turn off the steam indicator and keep the hot water indicator on. Turning the knob to the hot water/steam position will dispense hot water. The knob should be returned to standby to stop.
  • Steam Function (Milk Texturing): When all three indicators are on, pressing the steam button will turn off the hot water indicator and keep the steam indicator on. Turning the knob to the hot water/steam position will start steam production for milk texturing. After use, the knob should be returned to standby, and the steam button pressed again to exit steam mode.
  • Pausing/Stopping: To pause or stop any function (coffee brewing, hot water, or steam/milk texturing), the knob should be turned back to the standby position.

Important Notes during Use:

  • Post-Brewing: After coffee brewing, turn the knob to standby. Wait 5 seconds before unscrewing the filter handle to allow internal pressure release. Ensure the coffee cup is removed first.
  • Post-Steaming: After steam/milk texturing, it is recommended to wait 10 seconds before making coffee. If steaming was prolonged, allow the appliance to cool down twice before brewing.
  • Water Level: Always monitor the water level in the tank to avoid an empty tank, which can lead to a vacuum pump and low efficiency. If this occurs, turn the knob to steam/hot water position several times or lift the water tank up and down to release air.
  • Steam Duration: Avoid making steam for extended periods, as this can affect coffee taste due to high milk temperature.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and performance of the TENGYI Coffee Maker:

Cleaning:

  • Group Head, Filter, and Filter Cups:
    • Turn off and unplug the appliance.
    • Allow metal parts to cool down.
    • Remove the filter, discard coffee residue, and wash the filter and cup with warm, soapy water. Do not put them in the dishwasher.
    • Wipe the lower end of the group head with a wet cloth or paper towel to remove residue.
    • Assemble the filter (without filter cups) to the group head.
    • Place a 200ML empty cup under the group handle.
    • Use the brewing coffee mode to process a few cups of water for internal cleaning.
    • After cleaning, if the filter is not immediately reused, do not put it back into the group head to prevent reduced sealing.
  • Water Tank:
    • Lift and empty the water tank. It is recommended to empty it before and after each use.
    • Rinse the tank with warm, soapy water, then rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry.
    • Do not put the water tank in the dishwasher.
  • Unit Surface: Wipe the surface with a soft, wet cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaning agents or tablecloths to prevent scratching.
  • Immersion Warning: Do not immerse the product in water or other liquids.
  • Group Head Residue: Regularly clean coffee powder and residue inside the group head to ensure coffee quality. Specifically, clean the coffee grounds on the sides of the lower end of the group head.

Descaling:

  • Frequency: Occasional descaling is necessary due to mineral build-up from water heating.
  • Process:
    • Add calcium remover to the water tank and stir it in warm water (under 30 degrees Celsius) until no particles remain.
    • Start the hot water function until the water tank is empty.
    • Refill the water tank with clean cold water.
    • Run the coffee brewing and hot water functions several times until the water routes are clean. This process requires at least two full water tanks of clean water.

Troubleshooting Guide: The manual includes a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues such as:

  • No coffee running through (e.g., no water, incorrect assembly, blocked filter, wrong dial setting, fine grind).
  • Coffee running down the side of the filter handle (e.g., loose handle, coffee granules on edge, dirty/defective group head, damaged seal).
  • Coffee pouring out in drops (e.g., too fine grind, compacted coffee, scale build-up).
  • Espresso lacking crema (e.g., old/dry coffee, not compacted enough, too coarse grind).
  • Handle coming off during brewing (e.g., tamped too hard, too fine grind, loose handle, dirty filter edge, dirty/defective group head, damaged seal).

Environmental Protection: Users are advised to comply with local regulations for disposing of discarded electrical products and equipment at suitable waste recycling stations.
