Intended Use Policy
Thank you for selecting the Tern Orox
TM
, a versatile heavy-duty cargo bike.
This Intended Use Policy outlines the proper and safe use of the bike.
Please read and adhere to these guidelines to ensure your safety and the
optimal performance of your Orox.
Note: The warranty will be void if your Orox is not used in accordance with
this Intended Usage Policy. The warranty is enclosed separately.
Riding with Cargo or Passengers
As a heavy-duty cargo bike, the Orox is specially designed to support
passengers, and/or heavy loads. Please note that the number of passengers
and amount of cargo permissible on the bike will differ based on the terrain
you ride on, as indicated in the accompanying table.
DANGER: Whether you call it Aggro, Hucking, Freeride, North Shore,
Downhill, Jumping, Stunt Riding, Racing, Enduro, or something else: if
you engage in this sort of extreme, aggressive riding, you voluntarily
assume a greatly increased risk of injury or death. The Orox is NOT
intended for any type of these stunt-riding activities, or similar activities
which may cause damage to the bicycle and risk injury or death to the
rider.
Your Orox is designed for paved roads, graded and
maintained gravel roads, and unimproved trails (e.g.
with small obstacles, such as roots, rocks, loose
surfaces, and hard-pack), including areas where a
momentary loss of tire contact with the ground may
occur. Your Orox is NOT designed for jumping.*
* Refer to Appendix A of the E-bike Operating Manual
Before riding with passengers, read the Operating Manual (Section 2.E.
Riding with Passengers) to learn how to safely carry passengers on your
Orox.
CAUTION: When packing cargo for rough terrain riding, make sure cargo
is packed securely and efficiently. See the Tern E-Bike Operating Manual
for more on how to carry cargo on your e-bike.
Only bicycle trailers that conform to EN 15918 can be used with the Orox.
To see which trailers and attachment methods have been tested and
approved by Tern, please refer to the Tern website. If your trailer has not
been tested by Tern, check with the trailer manufacturer for information
concerning compatibility and proper installation.
