NOTE: If the TKS system has been operated o r the panels have been moistened in the last 30
days, the purge of the panel s t hat follo ws (Step 11B thru Step 11B(132)) is no t required
for Airplane Serials 208B5004, 208B5005 , 208B 5008, 208B5009, 208B5011, 208B5016,
208B5017, 208B5 019. Airplane Serials 208B5000, 208B5 002, and 208B5003 must do
the purge of the panel s.
B. (Refer to Fi gure 3.) Purge the panels a s foll ows :
NOTE: It is not necessa ry t o use elect rical p ower for the purge of the panels .
(1) If installed, remove the P840 218 Tape from the s urfa ce of t he porous panels.
(2) Look for examples of fl uid flow through the porous panels that is s ufficient and of fluid flow that
is not sufficient. You mus t kno w how to tell if fluid flow through the porous panels is sufficient
before you accomplish this panel purge operation. If you need help to know how to tell if a
panel is purged correct ly, c ontact Cessna Custom er Service at 316-517-58 00.
WARNING: During this test the TKS system o peration pressure will be as
high as 75 psig.
(3) Attach the fluid collector system (plastic guttering) below the area of the panels.
(4) Fill t he TKS system test cart reservoir with approximately 5.5 0 gallons (20.8 2 liters) o f TKS
fluid and attach the cart to a n air s ourc e. Do not fi ll t he reservoir u ntil it is full.
NOTE: You will fill the reservoir more t han once as you do th is procedure.
(5) Foll ow the o peration and safety instructions that are suppl ied with the test cart, found in the
"Panels Inst alled on Aircraft TKS Panel Test sec tion of the TKS Ice Protect ion Panel Flow
Check Procedure Using TKS System Test Cart" publication.
(6) Disconnect the two left inboard wing porous panel s upply lines from ports 1 and 5 of the
wing proportioning unit.
NOTE: The inboard and out board wing panels hav e two supply tubes. It is necess ary to
disconnect the second tube and put a cap or plug in the tube end to keep s ufficient
pressure in t he panel.
(7) Connect t he tes t c art s upply tube to the left inboard wi ng porous pane l as near to the panel as
you can.
(8) Apply pres s ure of 10 ps i, do a check for leaks in the line, and repa ir all leak s .
(9) Apply press ure of 20 psi to slowly start the fluid fl ow through the panel.
(10) Wait until the fluid starts to come out all the holes at the same rate along the full length of the
panel a nd increase the pressure to 65 p si.
