Overview

The BedBoss Relax 404 Series adjustable bed base is designed to enhance your sleep experience with a blend of comfort, convenience, and smart features. This owner's manual provides comprehensive guidance on setup, installation, wireless hand control operation, and warranty information, ensuring you get the most out of your adjustable bed.

Function Description

The BedBoss Relax 404 Series adjustable bed base allows you to customize your sleeping position for optimal comfort. It features independent head and foot articulation, enabling you to raise or lower these sections to your desired angle. This adjustability can help alleviate pressure points, reduce snoring, improve circulation, and provide a more comfortable position for reading, watching TV, or simply relaxing in bed. The base is equipped with quiet lift motors that facilitate smooth and seamless adjustments. For added convenience, it includes a wireless remote control that puts all functions at your fingertips. The bed also incorporates an emergency battery backup system, ensuring that the base can be returned to a flat position even during a power outage. This product is designed for in-home comfort and is not intended for hospital use or for bed-ridden patients on extended recovery.

Usage Features

The BedBoss Relax 404 Series offers a range of features designed to make your adjustable bed experience user-friendly and highly customizable:

  • Wireless Hand Control: The primary interface for controlling your adjustable bed is a wireless remote. This remote features dedicated buttons for "HEAD UP" and "HEAD DOWN" to adjust the head section, and "FOOT UP" and "FOOT DOWN" to adjust the foot section. This allows for precise control over your sleeping or lounging position.
  • Preset Position Buttons (1 & 2): The remote includes two "PRESET POSITION" buttons, labeled 1 and 2. These buttons allow you to save your favorite head and foot positions for quick recall. To set a preset, first press the "FLAT" button to level the bed, then adjust the head and foot to your desired position, and finally, press and hold either Preset Position Button 1 or 2 until the control box beeps. This memorizes the position, and you can easily return to it with a single press. The presets can be reset by repeating the same steps.
  • Flat Button: A dedicated "FLAT" button on the remote allows you to quickly return the bed base to a completely flat position with a single press. This is useful for getting in and out of bed or for resetting your position.
  • Flashlight Feature: The wireless remote also includes a built-in flashlight, activated by a "FLASHLIGHT" button. This can be a convenient feature for navigating in a dark room without disturbing others.
  • Emergency Battery Backup: In the event of a power outage, the adjustable bed is equipped with an emergency battery backup system. This system, powered by two 9-volt alkaline batteries installed in the transformer, allows the base to return to a flat position if it gets stuck in an articulated position. It's important to note that these batteries are for emergency use only and not for normal operation.
  • FCC Compliance: The device complies with FCC Rules for residential use, ensuring it operates without causing harmful interference and accepts any interference received.
  • Twin XL Instructions (for King Size Setup): For those assembling a King size bed using two Twin XL bases, the manual provides specific instructions for synchronization. You can choose to control both bases with one remote or with two remotes simultaneously.
    • Using One Remote to Control Side-by-Side Bases: To control two Twin XL bases as a single King base with one remote, you need to synchronize the remote with the control boxes of both bases. This process involves pressing and holding specific buttons on the remote while interacting with the control box, similar to the general remote synchronization process.
    • Using Two Remotes to Control Side-by-Side Bases: If you prefer to use two remotes to simultaneously control both Twin XL bases (acting as a King), you first synchronize the "Master Remote" with both control boxes, and then synchronize the "Clone Remote" with the "Master Remote." This involves a sequence of button presses on both remotes, with visual cues like the remote flashlight turning on and flashing to indicate successful synchronization. Instructions are also provided for desynchronizing the clone remote if needed.
  • Addressing Uneven Twin XL Bases: If two side-by-side Twin XL bases do not align perfectly, the manual provides a solution. For the higher base, you can use a wrench to turn both nuts counterclockwise to lower the angle until it matches the level of the lower angle base, ensuring a seamless King bed surface.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance and adherence to guidelines are crucial for the longevity and safe operation of your BedBoss Relax 404 Series adjustable bed. The manual outlines several important considerations:

  • Surge Protection: It is strongly recommended to use an electrical surge protection device (not included) with your adjustable bed. Electrical surges are a leading cause of problems with electrical circuits, and a surge protector will safeguard your investment and prevent potential malfunctions, which could otherwise void the electrical portion of your warranty.
  • Warranty Warning: To maintain your product warranty, it is critical not to open or tamper with the transformer, control box, motors, or remote control (excluding battery compartments). Any unauthorized tampering will void the warranty.
  • Cleaning and Servicing: Before cleaning or servicing the base, always ensure it is in a flat position and unplugged from the power source. If the power cord or plug is damaged, discontinue use and contact qualified service personnel for examination and repair.
  • Weight Limitations: The adjustable bed has a weight limitation of 750 lbs, which must be evenly distributed across the head and foot sections. Exceeding this weight, especially by concentrating it on only the head or foot section when raised, can damage the bed, cause injury, and void the warranty. Always enter and exit the bed in a flat position and avoid sitting on raised head or foot sections.
  • Motor Duty Cycle: The bed lift motors are designed for intermittent use, with a duty cycle of no more than 2 minutes of continuous operation within an 18-minute period (approximately 10% duty cycle). Attempting to exceed this rating will shorten the product's life expectancy and may void the warranty.
  • Disposal of Packaging Materials: Immediately dispose of all packing materials to prevent suffocation hazards for small children and pets.
  • Clearance for Mechanisms: During setup and operation, ensure that all power cords are clear and do not interfere with any mechanisms of the adjustable bed.
  • Product Registration: To activate your 1 & 14 Year Limited Warranty, you must register your product within 90 days of purchase. This can be done online at www.bedboss.com/warranty. The registration process requires completing contact information, choosing "Warranty Registration" as the contact reason, and attaching an image of the original purchase receipt.
  • Warranty Details: The warranty covers manufacturing defects for a period of 15 years from the date of purchase. The first year offers full coverage for parts, labor, and transportation. From year 2 to 15, the warranty covers replacement parts for mechanical components, but the customer is responsible for labor and transportation costs. The warranty explicitly excludes damage caused by abuse, misuse, or improper handling, as well as cosmetic damage, normal wear and tear, and damage from unauthorized repairs or modifications. It also does not cover issues related to the mattress, fabric, or electrical issues not caused by manufacturing defects.
