Overview

The SolidFlo™ Series by The Pond Guy® offers asynchronous pond and filter pumps designed for efficient water circulation and filtration in aquatic environments. These pumps are backed by a 3-year warranty, ensuring reliability and customer satisfaction.

Function Description:

The SolidFlo™ pumps are designed to move water efficiently, making them suitable for use in ponds and as components of filtration systems. They operate asynchronously, which typically means they are designed for continuous operation and are energy-efficient for their flow rates. The primary function is to circulate water, which is crucial for maintaining water quality, oxygenation, and overall health of a pond ecosystem. They are specifically evaluated for use with water only and are not intended for swimming pools or marine areas where human contact with the water is common.

Important Technical Specifications:

The SolidFlo™ Series includes three models, each with varying power and flow capabilities:

  • SolidFlo™ 1200 (Item #120842):

    • Power: 120V/60 Hz, 85 Watts
    • Flow Rate: 1,200 GPH (Gallons Per Hour) at 0' head, 975 GPH at 3' head, 750 GPH at 6' head
    • Shut-Off Height: 10'
    • Plumbing Size (Step Down Barb Fitting): 3/4" - 1 1/2"
  • SolidFlo™ 1600 (Item #120843):

    • Power: 120V/60 Hz, 115 Watts
    • Flow Rate: 1,600 GPH at 0' head, 1,325 GPH at 3' head, 975 GPH at 6' head
    • Shut-Off Height: 11.5'
    • Plumbing Size (Step Down Barb Fitting): 3/4" - 1 1/2"
  • SolidFlo™ 2100 (Item #120844):

    • Power: 120V/60 Hz, 155 Watts
    • Flow Rate: 2,100 GPH at 0' head, 1,700 GPH at 3' head, 1,500 GPH at 6' head
    • Shut-Off Height: 15'
    • Plumbing Size (Step Down Barb Fitting): 3/4" - 1 1/2"

All models are designed to operate on a standard 120V/60 Hz electrical supply. The plumbing size indicates the range of tubing diameters that can be connected using the provided step-down barb fitting, allowing for flexibility in installation.

Usage Features:

  • Installation: The pumps are designed for straightforward installation. Users should cut the step-down fitting to match the largest connection that works with their tubing to maximize water flow. Once tubing is connected, the pump is ready for operation.
  • Submersible Operation: The SolidFlo™ pumps must be completely submerged in water when operating to ensure proper cooling and prevent damage. They should be placed directly in the pond, ideally on a flat surface away from sludge or algae mats.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always use a properly grounded AC outlet.
    • A "drip loop" should be provided for the power cord to prevent water from traveling along the cord to the receptacle.
    • A ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) must be installed in the branch circuit supplying the pond equipment to reduce the risk of electrical shock.
    • The ground pin from the plug must never be removed.
    • The power cable is not replaceable; if damaged, the pump must be discarded.
    • The pump should not be frozen in water.
    • It is crucial to disconnect the unit from the power source before any installation, servicing, or troubleshooting.
    • The pump is suitable only for portable self-contained fountains no larger than 5 feet in any dimension.
    • Do not remove the cord and strain relief, and do not connect conduit to the pump.

Maintenance Features:

The SolidFlo™ pumps require minimal maintenance, but some attention is necessary to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

  • Cleaning: Reduced water flow can often be attributed to debris clogging the pump. Users should clean the filter cage regularly. If necessary, the four screws securing the filter cage can be unscrewed to clean the inside. Tubing should also be checked for debris.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • Pump does not turn on: Possible causes include a disconnected power cord, a tripped circuit breaker, or a faulty GFCI.
    • Pump turns on then shuts off: This can indicate the pump is overheating due to low water level or a clogged intake. It could also be caused by low voltage if plugged into an extension cord.
    • Reduced water flow: Common causes are a clogged filter cage, debris in the tubing, or low water level.

The Pond Guy® emphasizes that failure to follow safety precautions, misuse, or abuse of the equipment will void the warranty and the company is not responsible for resulting losses, injury, or death.
