2. Safety
Assembly and installation should only be carried
out by a qualied electrician, somebody who has
completed appropriate professional training and
has the knowledge and experience necessary to be
able to recognise and avoid the potential dangers
posed by electricity.
Before installation/disassembly, disconnect the
supply voltage and ensure that the parts are no
longer live.
Prior to commissioning and using the product, read
and observe all the operating instructions.
3. Proper Use
Digital clock thermostat for time-dependent monitoring
and control of the room temperature in single-family
houses, ofces, etc.
Only operate the devices in dry indoor rooms (no bath-
rooms, etc.)
4. Installation
You can mount the clock thermostat either on the wall (not
8120210) or on a ush-mounted box.
Batteries
The devices RAMSES 811 top3 and RAMSES 813 top3 HF are
battery devices.
Only use AA batteries LR6, 2 x 1.5 V.
Ensure correct polarity.
Mount the clock thermostat
L For wall mounting. With RAMSES 813 top3 HF, a stand is
also included in the set.
!
Protect the clock thermostat from moisture, dust, direct
sunlight, thermal radiation and draughts.
!
On the battery devices (8119200 + 8139200), the termi-
nal box cover plate must be xed with the screws.
Position the clock thermostat on an interior wall, at about
eye level (approx. 1.50-1.60 m).
Fix the mounting plate directly to the wall or to a ush-
mounted box using the holes .
Assign and wire the conductors.
Insert the terminal box cover plate (top must point
upwards).
If necessary, tighten the screws and insert the batteries
correctly (only with 8119200 + 8139200) .
Put on the clock thermostat .
Dismount the clock thermostat
!
For battery change, open the device according to the
illustration, as it could be destroyed if not done so.
Insert the screwdriver into the opening and push up slightly
to open the device.

Overview

The Theben RAMSES top3 series comprises digital clock thermostats designed for time-dependent monitoring and control of room temperature in single-family houses, offices, and similar dry indoor environments. These devices are available in battery-powered (RAMSES 811 top3, 813 top3 HF) and power-supply versions with relay outputs (RAMSES 812 top3, 812 top3 16A).

Function Description:

The RAMSES top3 thermostats regulate room temperature according to desired set times and offer three programmable weekly programs (P1-P3). Users can define and activate different operating modes:

  • Comfort temperature: Typically used during the day when occupants are present.
  • Setback temperature (Eco): An energy-saving temperature for nighttime or periods of absence.
  • Frost protection temperature: A minimum temperature to protect the heating system during prolonged absence (e.g., holidays).

The devices feature an external input for connecting various sensors, such as a floor sensor (9070321) or an external temperature sensor (9070459). The RAMSES 813 top3 HF models form part of a radio-controlled system for room temperature control, working in conjunction with receivers (e.g., REC 1, REC 11).

A key feature is the ability to configure settings via the RAMSES top3 app (for Android, iOS) using a direct Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connection. This app simplifies operation, allowing users to:

  • Set and manage weekly programs (up to 24 switching times per program, 42 total).
  • Create and activate holiday programs with specific start/end dates and temperatures.
  • Customize display settings, including brightness and backlight duration.
  • Adjust wall compensation (offset) to correct temperature variations due to installation location.
  • Enable window detection, which stops heating for 15 minutes if a window is opened in cold conditions.
  • Select between two controller types: Pulse Duration Controller (PDC) for precise regulation with low overshoot, or Hysteresis Controller (2-point control) for systems with larger thermal inertia.
  • Configure the external input for various sensors or contacts (floor, external temperature, presence detector, window contact, telephone contact).
  • Set an optimization function to pre-heat rooms, ensuring the desired temperature is reached at the programmed switching time.
  • Manage summer/winter time changeover rules (Central Europe, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, or inactive).
  • Assign or change a four-digit PIN for security.
  • Activate pump protection, which switches the heating circuit pump on for one minute weekly to prevent seizing.

For radio-controlled systems (RAMSES 813 top3 HF), the device and receiver are pre-matched. Users can perform a range test to optimize the placement of the thermostat and align the receiver antenna for optimal reception quality. New receivers can be encoded with the thermostat if needed.
