How to Install a Mini-UPS

A Mini-UPS is a backup battery that automatically takes over if the power source is cut off. Your
Thecus NAS will continue to run normally for one minute before it begins shutting down safely. This is
because many times power outtages last less than one minute, solving the problems of accidental
unplugging and unstable power connections. Despite having 10 minutes of power, the NAS shuts down
after 1 minute because this is a safety valve, and without a proper shutdown all the information in the
RAM cache would be erased and there could be permanent damage to your data. The purpose of this
battery is to prevent data loss.
The installation takes 4 simple steps:
1. Ensure that the Thecus® NAS is completely powered down.
2. Be careful not to allow the metal pins of the battery
to come in contact with any other metallic or
electrically charged objects.
3. Plug the Lithium-ion battery into the rear battery
slot and tighten the Phillips screw to secure the
battery.
