Overview

This document provides a comprehensive guide to the Thereye Ice Maker (Model: ER-IM05), detailing its function, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Thereye Ice Maker is designed to produce ice cubes efficiently for household use. It operates by filling a water tank with potable water, which is then frozen into ice cubes. The device features an automatic ice-making cycle that continues until the ice bin is full. It also includes a self-cleaning function to maintain hygiene and prolong the appliance's service life. The ice maker can be operated manually by adding water to the tank or can be connected to a water supply system for automatic refilling, offering convenience and continuous ice production.

Usage Features

The ice maker is equipped with a user-friendly control panel and display, featuring distinct indicators for various operational states.

Control Panel & Display:

  • Start/Stop (On/Off Button): Press this button to initiate or halt the ice-making process.
  • Self-cleaning (Clean Button): To start or stop an 8-minute self-cleaning cycle, press and hold this button for 3 seconds. A single press will also mute any beeps from the device.
  • Ice Making Indicator: This indicator remains solid during the ice-making cycle, confirming the unit is actively producing ice.
  • Cleaning Indicator: Stays solid when the self-cleaning cycle is in progress.
  • Add Water Indicator: Flashes to alert the user when the water tank is low and requires refilling.
  • Ice Bin Full Indicator: Stays solid when the ice bin is full, signaling that ice cubes should be removed.

Getting Started:

  1. Locate and Clean: Before first use, position the ice maker upright on a flat, stable, and level surface, ensuring at least 6 inches of clearance on the sides and back for proper ventilation. Clean the water tank, ice bin, and ice scoop thoroughly. Allow the unit to settle for at least 2 hours if it was tilted during transportation to allow the refrigerant fluid to settle.
  2. Add Water Manually: Open the front door, pull out the ice bin, and fill the water tank with potable water up to the MAX line. Distilled or demineralized water at 40~82°F is recommended. Replace the ice bin and close the door.
  3. Start Making Ice: Plug the appliance into a properly installed grounded outlet. Press the On/Off button to begin the ice-making cycle. The unit will continue to make ice until the ice bin is full.
  4. Scoop Ice Out: Ice production typically starts in about 15 minutes. Once made, scoop out the ice cubes for immediate use or store them in a freezer to prevent melting.

Automatic Refilling: For continuous ice production without manual refilling, the ice maker can be connected to a water supply system.

  1. Insert the Hose: Fully insert the included hose into the water inlet until it is securely in place. To remove the hose, hold against the gray ring and pull it out.
  2. Connect with Water Supply System: Connect the other end of the hose to your home's water supply system. A 1/4" faucet adapter may be necessary (not included) depending on your setup. It is recommended to connect with a water filtration system to prevent blockages from scale or mineral build-up. Important: Do not add water manually when the ice maker is already connected to the water supply system to avoid overflow.

Operational Notes:

  • Ensure the drain plug is firmly inserted before use.
  • The ice maker will automatically pause ice production when the ice bin is full and will resume after 4 hours. Removing the ice cubes promptly will allow the unit to restart ice making immediately if sufficient water is available.
  • If the appliance is stored in a cold environment, allow it to warm to room temperature for at least 3 hours before plugging it in.
  • The ice maker complies with federal regulations, including 21 CFR, Chapter 1.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and proper storage are crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of the ice maker.

Self-Cleaning: The ice maker features an automatic self-cleaning cycle that activates after 4.5 hours of continuous operation (provided the ice bin is not full).

  1. Initiate Self-Cleaning: Fill the water tank below the MAX line or ensure it's connected to the water supply. Press and hold the "Clean" button for 3 seconds to start the 8-minute self-cleaning cycle. The "Clean" indicator will remain solid during this process.
  2. Drain Water: Once the cycle is complete, the "Clean" indicator will turn off. Unhook the drainpipe and position it over a sink to drain the water.
  3. Resume Ice Making: To restart ice production, press the On/Off button again.

Regular Cleaning (Recommended every 1 to 2 weeks): To remove accumulated dirt or fibers, unplug the ice maker before cleaning.

  1. Remove Ice Bin: Unplug the unit and take out the ice bin. Remove the water filter located in the right corner of the tank.
  2. Clean Ice Bin and Filter: Rinse the ice bin and water filter with a diluted detergent and warm water.
  3. Clean Water Tank: Clean the water tank with a diluted detergent, warm water, and a soft cloth. Add water to rinse and then drain it out.
  4. Wipe Exterior: Gently wipe the exterior of the appliance with a soft, damp cloth.

Removal of Scale/Mineral Build-up (Recommended once a month or as needed): To descale the ice maker, follow these steps. Do not use solvents or harsh chemicals.

  1. Fill Water Tank: Fill the water tank with warm water (around 90°F) below the MAX line.
  2. Add Cleaner: Add distilled white vinegar or a dedicated ice maker cleaner. Let it sit for at least 2 hours.
  3. Run Self-Cleaning Cycles: Press and hold the "Clean" button for 3 seconds to start a self-cleaning cycle. Repeat this process for up to 3 cleaning cycles.
  4. Drain and Rinse: Drain the mixture completely. Then, run 3 additional cleaning cycles with fresh water for each rinse to ensure all cleaning solution is removed.

  • Clean the unit thoroughly.
  • Drain all water completely from the tank and dry the interior.
  • Cover the appliance and store it in a cool, dry location, away from direct sunlight.
