This document describes the Thermex GIRO electric storage water heater, designed for household and industrial use to provide hot water. It is available in various capacities: 50, 80, 100, and 150 liters.
Function Description
The Thermex GIRO is an electric storage water heater that heats and stores water. It features a steel tank with a special glass-porcelain coating for corrosion protection. The heating element is a tubular electric heater (TEH), and the device includes a thermostat for temperature regulation, a magnesium anode for additional corrosion protection, and a safety relief valve to prevent overpressure. The water heater can be installed either vertically or horizontally, offering flexibility in placement.

Usage Features
The water heater is designed for continuous flow operation and can be installed in closed heated rooms.
- Installation: The device can be installed in both vertical (Fig. 1) and horizontal (Fig. 2) orientations. Specific mounting dimensions and anchor requirements are provided for each model. It is crucial to ensure proper wall strength and use appropriate fasteners.
- Water Connection: Connect the cold water supply to the inlet pipe (blue ring) and the hot water outlet to the outlet pipe (red ring). A pre-treatment filter for water purification is recommended. The safety relief valve (16) must be installed on the cold water inlet pipe.
- Electrical Connection: The EWH requires a regular power cord with a europlug and a residual current device (RCD) or an equivalent protective device. The electrical socket must have a grounding terminal and be located in a protected area, not subject to moisture, and meet IPX4 requirements.
- Temperature Regulation: The thermostat knob (10) allows users to set the desired water temperature within the range of +18°C to +70°C. The device automatically maintains the set temperature.
- Indicators: The water heater is equipped with control lamps (4) that indicate the heating process ("Heating" lamp, red) and power status ("Power" lamp, green).
- Safety: The device includes a safety relief valve to prevent excessive pressure buildup in the tank. It is essential to ensure that the drain pipe from the relief valve is always open and directed downwards. The EWH is equipped with electrical safety and anti-corrosion protection.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficient operation of the Thermex GIRO water heater.
- Periodic Maintenance: The magnesium anode is a consumable part and needs to be replaced periodically (at least once a year, or more frequently depending on water quality). Failure to replace the anode may lead to increased corrosion of the inner tank and void the warranty.
- Cleaning: The heating element (TEH) may accumulate scale over time, reducing heating efficiency. Regular cleaning of the TEH from scale is recommended. This involves draining the water heater, disassembling the flange, and carefully removing scale using descaling agents or mechanically.
- Draining the Water Heater: To drain the water heater, turn off the power, close the cold water inlet valve (23), open the hot water faucet (24), and open the drain valve (27) or disconnect the cold water inlet pipe.
- Troubleshooting: The manual provides a table of possible malfunctions, their causes, and remedies. Common issues include reduced hot water pressure, increased heating time, EWH working but not heating water, frequent thermostat triggering, and lack of backlight on control lamps.
- Warranty: The manufacturer provides a 1-year warranty for the water heater and its components, and a 5-year warranty for the water-containing reservoir (inner tank). The warranty period is calculated from the date of sale or the store stamp.
It is strongly recommended to entrust installation and maintenance to qualified professionals to ensure safe and correct operation and to maintain the warranty.
