This is a normal phenomenon, it will not affect the normal operation of
the appliance, however, it will affect the taste of the first batch of waffles,
so it is best to throw the first batch away.
THE PREPARATORY WORK
Make sure the baking plates are in place, close the appliance and plug
it in. You will find that the red and green lights are lit, which indicates the
waffle maker is preheating.
After about 3 to 5 minutes, the appliance reaches the baking temperature.
The red power indicator light will always stay on, unless the plug has
been pulled out. When the green light goes off, the waffle maker is
ready to use.
Normally, the cooking time is about 5 to 8 minutes. For a lighter, more
tender waffle, cook for a shorter amount of time (about 5 minutes). For a
darker and crispier waffle, cook for longer (about 8 minutes). Try different
amounts of times until you find the best baking time based on your taste.
Before making the first batch of waffles, brush a layer of vegetable oil
on the top and bottom grid with a pastry brush, or spray a layer of veg-
etable oil with an oil mister.
BAKING
After reaching the ideal baking temperature, the green light will shut off.
Once fully heated, cooking time will be reduced.
To make one waffle at a time:
1. Using a ladle, pour the batter into the bottom grid of the top level until
filled, so that the top of the grid is completely covered. If necessary,
use a small spatula to even out the batter. Because of the cold batter,
it is normal that the green light turns on again.
2. Close the machine, and rotate it 180 degrees clockwise. Wait for at
least 2 ½ minutes before opening the lid, as opening it earlier may
cause the waffle batter to spill, and it will be difficult to clean off.
