Overview

This document is an installation and operation manual for the TICA Inverter Multi System Unit, specifically applicable to the TIMS-X/XA/XT/C series. It provides comprehensive guidelines for the safe and effective installation, operation, and maintenance of these VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) air conditioning units.

Function Description

The TICA Inverter Multi System Unit is a VRF air conditioning system designed for cooling (and potentially heating, though the manual specifies "cooling only" for R410A refrigerant inverter VRF air conditioning units) multiple indoor units (IDUs) with a single outdoor unit (ODU) or a combination of ODUs. The system utilizes R410A refrigerant and inverter technology for efficient operation. The manual covers various ODU capacities, ranging from 8HP to 96HP, available in both standard and combination modes, allowing for flexible system design to meet diverse cooling requirements. The system supports a maximum quantity of connectable indoor units, varying by ODU capacity, up to 64 IDUs for higher HP units.

Usage Features

Installation:

  • Professional Installation: Installation must be performed by a licensed professional. Users should not install, repair, or displace the unit themselves.
  • Power Circuit: Use a dedicated power circuit with supply voltage fluctuating within 10% of rated voltage. Power supply should be separate from welding transformers.
  • Handling: Units are fragile and should be handled with care, not exceeding a 30° inclination. Heat exchanger fins must be protected. Hoisting requires specific rope configurations and protective pads. Forklifts should be used carefully to avoid damage.
  • Placement: ODU must be placed firmly on a level base to prevent vibration and noise. Shock-absorbing pads covering the entire bearing surface of the base (at least 20 mm thick) are required. A drain around the base is needed for condensate water.
  • Ventilation: Install in a well-ventilated place for good heat exchange. Avoid places with corrosive gases, flammable gases, strong wind, or direct exposure to falling debris from roof edges (use a protective shed if unavoidable).
  • Piping: Use clean, dust-free, moisture-free piping. Store pipelines indoors and seal ends until welding. Seal wall holes after passing copper pipes. Avoid piping work on rainy days. Reduce bends and use larger radii. Ensure ODU stop valve is closed during refrigerant piping connection, leakage test, and vacuuming.
  • Branch Pipes: Can be installed vertically or horizontally (angle between ±15°). Straight pipe distance between adjacent branch pipes should be at least 1000 mm.
  • Electrical Wiring: Use copper wires. Ensure IDUs and ODUs of the same system are powered simultaneously. Distribution box needs electric leakage protection and air switch per module. All earth lines must be securely connected to ground, not to lightning devices, telephone lines, gas pipes, or tap water pipes.
  • Communication Wiring: Use shielded twisted pair cables. Do not connect power lines to communication terminals. Shielding layer must be grounded. Communication cables must be laid out in series in a bus structure. Control signals (A and B polarities) must be connected correctly. Power and communication lines should be covered by separate conduits and kept at a distance.

Operation:

  • First Power-on: For initial power-on or after long disuse, ODU power must be connected 24 hours before use to prevent compressor damage.
  • Trial Operation: Before trial operation, ensure all installations (fixing, ventilation, IDU quantity, wiring insulation, cable lengths, piping dimensions, connections, insulation, and control panel codes) are correct. Open all stop valves completely. Connect power supply to IDU and ODU, wait 30 minutes for compressor warm-up. Power off all wired and remote controllers of IDU. Set IDU quantity on ODU electric control board and log in IDU address. Check communication indicator light on ODU for regular flashing.
  • Safety: Do not touch heat exchanger fins. Fasten control box cover plate. Do not turn on the air conditioner if panels or protection screens are removed. Avoid touching refrigerant pipeline during or immediately after operation due to extreme temperatures. Do not turn off power immediately after unit stops; wait at least five minutes.

Maintenance Features

Safety Precautions:

  • Qualified Personnel: Only licensed professionals should perform installation, repair, or displacement.
  • Electrical Safety: Ensure proper grounding and avoid connecting earth lines to non-electrical systems. Do not remove power plug with power on to prevent damage to communication chips.
  • Refrigerant Handling: Use R410A dedicated tools. Do not mix R410A with other refrigerants. Supplement refrigerating system with liquid refrigerant. Use a vacuum pump dedicated for R410A series.

Air Tightness Test and Vacuuming:

  • Air Tightness Test: After piping, perform an air tightness test for IDU and piping using nitrogen (not flammable gas or oxygen). Hold gauge pressure at -1 kgf/cm² for one hour. If pressure increases, check for water or leaks. Increase pressure to 0.3 MPa, then 1.5 MPa, and finally 4 MPa, holding for specified times to check for major and minor leakage points.
  • Vacuumizing: Use a vacuum pump with over 4 L/S gas displacement to achieve a vacuum degree below 755 mmHg. The vacuum pump should have an electronic single-way valve to prevent lubricating oil from entering the refrigerant system. Vacuumize gas and liquid pipes simultaneously. Ensure ODU gas and liquid side check valves are closed before vacuumizing.

Refrigerant Supplementation:

  • Procedure: After air tightness test, lower pressure to 0.2-0.3 MPa. Connect a charge tank (with siphon or upside down if no siphon) to the system via a charging pipe and platform scale. Drain air completely. Open charge tank valve and compound pressure gauge valve to fill refrigerant to the calculated amount. Close valves and disconnect pipes immediately when the limit is reached.

ODU Control Panel:

  • DIP Switches (S1, S2, S3): Used for ODU capacity code, system configuration (master/slave unit), and ODU capacity settings. Refer to tables for specific settings. The unit must be powered on again after DIP switch reset.
  • Digital Display and Keys: Used for setting parameters (address, baud rate, model, fan mode, compressor drive, fan drive) and displaying system status or error codes.
    • dP04: Parameter number display.
    • Ar01-99: Address setting.
    • b-12...b-192: Baud rate.
    • C5-0\1\2: Model setting.
    • C6-0\1\2: Fan mode.
    • SH-0, H-1, Al-2: Compressor drive.
    • SH-0, bt-1,bt-2: Fan drive.
  • Error Codes: The digital display shows error codes (e.g., E000 for high pressure switch disconnection, E001 for FAN1 drive fault) to assist in troubleshooting. Each code has a corresponding content description and handling instruction (e.g., ODU stops, compressor stop, protection runs, restart after 30 minutes).

Environmental Protection:

  • Hazardous Substances: The product complies with environmental protection requirements regarding restricted hazardous substances (Plumbum, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyl, Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers). A table details the presence (X) or absence (O) of these substances in various components.
  • Service Life: Environmental protection service life is 15 years under normal use. This is not equivalent to safe use service life.
  • Recycling: Recycle the product according to national regulations for waste electrical and electronic products at the end of its life. Do not discard it at will.
