Overview

The TIKI Island King Large Flame Torch is an outdoor lighting device designed to provide ambient light and create a specific atmosphere. It is intended for use with TIKI Brand Torch Fuel, which contains petroleum hydrocarbons and is combustible. The torch is designed for outdoor use only and should not be placed under covered shelters, umbrellas, near pedestrian traffic, or near combustible materials such as wood structures, fuel, clothing, or dry vegetation.

Safety Information:

The manual emphasizes several critical safety precautions. Torch fuel is harmful or fatal if swallowed, and users are instructed to read warnings on the torch fuel bottle carefully. Failure to follow warnings and instructions can result in serious injury or property damage. Users must not use gasoline or other flammable fuels, only TIKI Brand Torch Fuel. The torch becomes hot while in use, so clothing, hair, and face should be kept away from the flame. A burning torch should never be left unattended or moved. Tipping the torch can cause fuel to spill, leading to fire or serious injury. Refilling a burning torch is prohibited; the flame must be snuffed, and the torch allowed to cool for 30 minutes. Users should not blow out the flame. The torch must be kept out of reach of children and pets. It should only be used in a well-ventilated area, and not while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Package Contents:

The TIKI Island King Large Flame Torch package includes:

  • A Vessel (torch head)
  • Four Pole Sections
  • A Snuffer

Assembly:

Assembly involves screwing the pole sections together to achieve the desired height. The top pole section has a chain, and the bottom pole section has an angled end and, if included, a hinged step. Users can choose between a "Full Size" torch using all four pole sections or a "Garden" torch using three pole sections. After assembling the pole, the torch head is added. The assembled torch should be positioned before filling with fuel. The pole is then inserted into the ground to a minimum depth of 6 inches or until the step (if included) is against the ground, ensuring it is secure.

Filling and Lighting:

To fill the torch, the torch head is unscrewed from the pole, and the magnetic snuffer is removed. The user holds the base of the torch head with one hand and rotates the flameguard to open the fuel filler opening. After initial use, soot might prevent the flameguard from rotating, in which case it should be held as shown in the manual (Fig. 6) and gently pushed up before rotating. The torch head is filled with TIKI Brand Torch Fuel to the level indicator, taking care not to overfill. The wick is adjusted to expose a maximum of 1/2 inch (13 mm). After filling, the flameguard is rotated to close the fuel filler opening, any spilled fuel is wiped away, and the wick is allowed to become saturated with fuel. A long lighter or long fireplace match is used to light the torch.

Extinguishing:

To extinguish the torch, the snuffer is placed over the wick until the flame is out, then removed. The torch must be allowed to cool for 30 minutes. After cooling, the snuffer is placed back over the wick to protect it from moisture. If the fuel becomes contaminated with water or the wick gets wet, both the wick and fuel must be replaced and disposed of according to local laws and regulations.

Storage:

For storage, fuel should be kept in its original bottle with the cap secured. For each torch, the snuffer should be in place. If the torch has a child-resistant cap, it should be verified that it is tight. The fuel filling opening must be closed. Torches should be stored upright in a dry location, away from weather conditions.
