Overview

This manual describes the TOKU MI-20P impact wrench, a robust tool designed for tightening processes on threaded fasteners. The MI-20P is engineered for professional use, emphasizing safety, efficiency, and durability in various industrial applications. Its design incorporates features that ensure reliable performance and user comfort, while also highlighting critical safety precautions and maintenance procedures to prolong the tool's lifespan and ensure safe operation.

The primary function of the TOKU MI-20P is to provide powerful and controlled torque for fastening applications. It operates as an air-powered impact wrench, utilizing compressed air to generate rotational force and impacts, making it highly effective for tasks requiring significant tightening or loosening of bolts and nuts. The tool is particularly suited for environments where high torque output is essential, such as automotive repair, heavy machinery maintenance, and construction. The impact mechanism allows for efficient fastening without transmitting excessive torque reaction back to the operator, enhancing user safety and reducing fatigue.

For optimal usage, the MI-20P requires a properly configured air system. This includes a main pipe with a downward pitch to prevent moisture accumulation, a branch pipe, a shut-off valve for immediate air supply control, and a filter, regulator, and oiler (FRL unit) to ensure clean, regulated, and lubricated air. The filter removes contaminants, the regulator maintains consistent air pressure, and the oiler provides essential lubrication to the internal components of the tool, which is crucial for its longevity and performance. The manual stresses the importance of using an air hose with an adequate diameter to prevent power loss and recommends a hose as thick as possible for efficient air flow. Proper connection with the tool via a coupler ensures a secure and leak-free setup. The air system should be designed to deliver air at a maximum pressure of 6.3 bar at the tool's inlet during operation, as exceeding this can lead to unnecessary wear and damage, while pressures below 5.5 bar can result in power loss and increased wear.

Safety is a paramount consideration in the design and operation of the MI-20P. Operators are strongly advised to wear safety glasses appropriate for the risk level of the operation, ear protection, and safety/working gloves. Long hair should be secured with a hairnet, and loose clothing avoided to prevent entanglement with rotating parts. The manual explicitly warns against holding the drive shaft, socket, bit, or any inserted tool/accessory while it is rotating. Only impact sockets should be used with impact and impulse wrenches. Before any maintenance, accessory changes, or repairs, the air supply must be disconnected. Regular checks for damaged tools or accessories are essential, as breakage can cause flying fragments and injuries. The tool is not insulated for contact with electric power and should not be used in hazardous areas. If dust is generated during operation, appropriate protection and dust suction systems should be used. Cold exhaust air should be diverted from hands and body, and air under pressure should never be directed at oneself or others. Quick-change couplings should not be used directly on the air inlet, and universal twist couplings must have lock pins mounted. The tool should never be carried by the air hose, and a safety helmet should be worn for overhead work. Operators must be aware that the workpiece or inserted tool/accessory can become hot, causing burn injuries.

Maintenance of the TOKU MI-20P is straightforward but critical for its performance and lifespan. Regular checks for loose bolts, screws, or parts are recommended. In case of power loss, the tool should be repaired by trained and qualified engineers. If the tool is equipped with a silencer, its proper functioning must be ensured, and a damaged silencer replaced. Before prolonged storage, the tool should be oiled by filling a few droplets of resin and acid-free oil into the air inlet and letting it run free for a couple of seconds. This prevents internal corrosion and ensures readiness for future use. The quality of compressed air is vital; it must be clean and dry, ideally achieved with a complete FRL unit. The oiler in the FRL unit should be adjusted to deliver approximately 3 to 6 droplets per minute, and the air hose between the oiler and tool should not exceed 6 to 8 meters in length. For situations where it is feasible, a centralized oiler is recommended as it can significantly reduce oil consumption (up to 80%) while ensuring perfect lubrication. Upon disposal, local regulations should be followed to maximize recycling and prevent the tool from being discarded in normal waste bins.

The MI-20P is intended for tightening threaded fasteners, and any other use requires a risk assessment by the employer/user. Damages resulting from not following the manual, incorrect use, or improper repairs are not covered by the warranty. The manufacturer reserves the right to implement technical improvements without prior notification. The warranty covers material or construction mistakes for 12 months on the tool and 3 months on spare parts, provided repairs are done by an official service workshop. Normal wear, overloading, or incorrect use are excluded from warranty claims. All warranty claims must be made through the dealer who supplied the tool, with the tool in its original state and accompanied by a copy of the purchase invoice.
