The WaterFuse® - PlugIn is a water damage prevention system designed for use around equipment or in limited areas, such as under a sink unit or with a dishwasher. It is intended to prevent water damage by automatically shutting off the water supply when a leak is detected. The system can be installed with one or two motorised ball valves and one or two water sensors.
The core function of the WaterFuse PlugIn is to continuously monitor for water leaks using its sensors. Upon detection of water, the system triggers an alarm and automatically turns off the water supply via the connected motorised ball valve(s). The electronic unit is designed to be plugged into a standard 230V socket, which can still be used to power other appliances like a dishwasher.
The system offers both manual and automatic control over the water supply. Users can manually turn the water on or off by pressing the ON or OFF buttons on the WaterFuse PlugIn unit. The OFF button, however, only controls the water supply and does not cut off the 230V electricity to the integrated socket.
In the event of a water leak, the system provides a pulsating warning signal, and the LED indicator flashes red. To silence the alarm and address the leak, the user must press the RESET button. Once the leak is fixed and the sensors are dry, pressing the ON button will restore the water supply. If the water sensors remain wet, the alarm will reactivate, and the water will be turned off again.
A notable feature is the automatic exercise of the ball valve. If the ball valve remains open for more than three days, it will automatically exercise itself, though this action does not completely turn off the water.
The system also has a configurable setting regarding the 230V socket's power supply during an alarm. By default, the electrical socket remains functional even when a water leak alarm is active, allowing appliances like fridges, freezers, dishwashers, and washing machines to continue operating. This is based on the premise that these appliances are designed to function without a water supply during operation. However, this setting can be changed. If configured to turn off electricity during an alarm, the unit will flash RED upon startup; otherwise, it will flash GREEN. This setting can be toggled by simultaneously pressing the ON/OFF and TEST/RESET buttons for three seconds, indicated by a beep and a flashing GREEN (230V ON after alarm) or RED (230V OFF after alarm) light.
