Usage Features:

The hedge trimmer is designed with several features to ensure safe and effective operation:

  • Handle Adjustment: The handle (5) can be adjusted to the required position by pulling the unlock lever (9) backward. It can be set to initial position (0°), right position (90°), or left position (-90°). It is crucial to only adjust the handle when the engine is switched off and to ensure it locks securely into one of the end positions, never an intermediate one.
  • Fuel and Engine Oil: The product is equipped with a 2-stroke engine and requires a fuel-oil mixture (petrol: 2 cycle motor oil) at a 40:1 ratio. It is essential to use a regular-grade unleaded petrol and a quality engine oil (JASO FC GRADE OIL or ISO EGC GRADE). Fuel and oil should be mixed in a separate container, not directly in the product's tank, to ensure the correct ratio. The fuel tank should not be overfilled, leaving a minimum 5mm space for expansion.
  • Handle Controls: The handle (5) includes an ignition switch (10) to stop the engine, a throttle interlock (6) to prevent unintentional throttle activation, and a throttle trigger (8) to adjust engine speed.
  • Starting the Engine:
    • Cold Start: Place the product on level ground, set the ignition switch (10) to "I" (ON), press the primer (13) 5-6 times, move the choke lever (16) to "N" (start) position, hold the top cover firmly, and pull the recoil starter handle (4) briskly 3-4 times. If the engine doesn't start, move the choke lever (16) to "I+I" (Run) position, squeeze the throttle interlock (6) and throttle trigger (8) 2-3 times, then pull the recoil starter handle (4) to start.
    • Warm Start: Set the ignition switch (10) to "I" (ON), do not press the primer (13), move the choke lever (16) to "I+I" (Run) position, hold the top cover firmly, and pull the recoil starter handle (4) briskly 1-2 times until the engine starts.
    • Flooded Engine: If the engine does not start due to flooding, do not prime again. Set the ignition switch (10) to "STOP" (OFF), squeeze the throttle interlock (6) and throttle trigger (8) to release the choke, remove and dry the spark plug, pull the recoil starter handle (4) several times to drain fuel, refit the spark plug, clean spilled fuel, move the product 3 meters away, and then attempt a warm start.
  • Stopping the Engine: Release the throttle trigger (8) and let the product run at idle speed for 10-15 seconds. Set the ignition switch (10) to "STOP" (OFF). The cutting device will continue to run for some time after the engine is switched off; wait for it to stop completely before placing the product down.
  • Trimming Technique: Keep the cutting device angled at approximately 15° to the cutting surface. Cut and remove large branches with a pruner before operation. Adjust the handle for the intended cut. When operating, keep the exhaust outlet (20) away from the body. Move the cutting device lightly in a sweeping motion, with a slight downward tilt for optimum performance. Avoid rushing or attempting to cut too much in one stroke. For hedges, cut both sides from bottom to top first, then proceed to the top. Cut long areas in stages for better results and easier composting. When shaping, aim for a trapezoidal shape to promote natural growth and light exposure to the lower hedge.
  • Trimming Times: Green leaf hedges (June to October), Evergreens (April and August), Conifers and other fast-growing (every 6-8 weeks).

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for safe operation and prolonging the product's life. Always switch off the product, let it cool down, and disconnect the spark plug connector before any inspection, maintenance, or cleaning.

  • General Cleaning: Clean the product with a damp cloth and mild soap after each use. Use a brush for hard-to-reach areas. Clean the air vents (21) after every use. Remove stubborn dirt with high-pressure air (max. 3 bar). Do not use chemical, alkaline, abrasive, or aggressive detergents.
  • Cutting Device: Keep the cutting device (1) clean and free of debris. Apply a small amount of suitable lubricant to the cutting device (1) for good performance. Keep the cutting device sharp; replace worn or damaged ones with new ones of the same type by a qualified specialist. Tighten loose nuts on the cutting device (1) with a wrench (5 N.m min, 7 N.m max). Wear safety gloves when working on the cutting device.
  • Air Filter: Inspect the air filter (15a) regularly and replace if necessary. Open the air filter case by loosening the fixing screw (15) with the multi-tool (24), remove the screw, cover (14), and take out the filter (14a). Tap the filter to remove dust or use compressed air. Apply a small amount of air filter oil to increase performance, wring out surplus oil, and refit.
  • Fuel Tank: Empty the fuel tank when storing the product for over 30 days to prevent fuel deterioration. Unscrew the fuel tank cap (12) and use a fuel pump to empty fuel into a suitable container.
  • Fuel Filter: The fuel tank (11) has a filter at the free end of the fuel pipe. Have an authorized service center check and replace it at regular intervals.
  • Spark Plug: Inspect the spark plug (18) every 25 hours or before long-term storage. Clean or replace if necessary. Unplug the spark plug connector (19). Loosen and remove the spark plug with the multi-tool (24). Check for damage and wear; the electrode color should be light brown. Remove debris with a soft wired brush. Dry if wet from fuel. Check the spark plug gap (0.6-0.7mm). Replace if the electrode or insulation is damaged. When replacing, screw it in hand tight, then lightly tighten with the multi-tool (24).
  • Gear Box: Lubricate the gear box every 30 hours or more frequently with heavy use. Add grease through the lubricator (23) with a lubricating gun until grease comes out between the gear box (22) and the cutting device (1). Remove any excess grease.
  • Carburettor: The carburettor is pre-set by the manufacturer. Do not attempt adjustments yourself; contact an authorized service center if changes are needed.
  • Repair: This product does not contain consumer-repairable parts. Contact an authorized service center or qualified person for checks and repairs.

Storage and Transportation:

  • Storage: Drain all fuel from the tank outdoors and run the engine until it stops. Switch off the product and disconnect the spark plug connector. Clean the product. Attach the blade cover. Store in a dry, frost-free place, inaccessible to children, ideally between 10 and 30°C. Use the original package or a suitable cover to protect against dust.
  • Transportation: Switch off the product and disconnect the spark plug connector. Attach the blade cover. Carry the product by its handles. Protect it from heavy impact or strong vibrations during transport and secure it to prevent slipping or falling.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides a troubleshooting table for common issues like the engine not starting, running too fast, or not reaching maximum speed, and the engine not stopping, along with possible causes and solutions.

Environmental Information:

The product packaging is recyclable. Old products are also potentially recyclable and should be handed in at an equipped collection center. Petrol, oil, used oil, fuel mixtures, and contaminated objects should be disposed of according to local guidelines at recycling centers, not with household waste.
