System Set-up
During commissioning the TEC4000 Control System will be set up and users will be shown how to
operate the system. The following pages briefly describe how the TEC4000 is operated, detailed
operating method is shown via video sequences which are available on line or on the TEC4000
tablet PC supplied. The values used in the video re examples and are not necessarily correct
for your site.
Data is entered via the colour touch screen panel. The TEC4000 does not allow access to
everybody, a security code is used to prevent general access. If the wrong security code is entered
there will be a delay before further attempts can be made to enter the correct security code.
System Menu. This menu is to be used for routine operations. Access by pressing menu and the
touch screen and entering the security code. From the system menu you will be able to reset
timeouts, standardise, change the time and date, override the dosing pumps and enter the
maintenance section.
Reset Time-outs. Each pump (pH minus, pH plus and chlorine/bromine) has a time-out value. This
is the time given to re-achieve set point. To cancel a time-out from the system menu press “There
are timeouts to reset” followed by “reset timeout” The timeout is now reset, and the unit will now
continue dosing chemicals. All pump timeouts are reset in this way.
Standardise actual level of free chlorine and pH measured at the sample point. To operate
correctly, all sensing systems for pool control need to be standardised. Standardising is the results
of the DPD1 and phenol red tablet tests taken from the sample tap (not the pool) entered into the
TEC4000 i.e. the actual pH and chlorine level in the pool. When taking a DPD1 test a dilution test
must be carried out if the first test is above 2ppm. Only standardise the unit when required, if you
are standardising frequently contact Topline for advice. To standardise follow the below
instructions:
To standardise from the system menu press “standardise” select either chlorine, ph or redox and
enter the level measured and press “enter” followed by “exit” to return to the system menu.
Change Time and date. The TEC4000 records data and changes, to do this it must have the local
time and date entering. To change the date and time from the system menu press “time and date”
select the item to change. Enter the value required and press “enter” followed by “exit” to return to
the system menu.
Override dosing pumps. From this menu the dosing pumps can be enabled or disabled. The pumps
can be also placed in a manual mode and will run for the selected period of time, regardless of the
chemical level. To alter a pump from the system menu press “Override dosing pumps”.
To enable or disable a pump press the button for that pump. The pumps status will then change on
the screen.
To force the pump into adding chemical press the “Add” button for that chemical and enter the
change in level required. The time the dosing pump will run for will be calculated by the TEC4000,
based on pool size, dosing pump size and chemical being added to make the change. Please note
you will not be able to initiate a manual addition if that chemical is in timeout mode. The screen
will display the change entered and when the pump will stop. The pump can be disabled to turn the
pump off before the complete addition is made. The pump will need to be enabled before automatic
dosing will continue. Press “exit” to return to the system menu.
