System Set-up (Cont)
Input and Outputs Dosing Pumps (Cont)
The “scale” is entered so that in the event of small under or overdoses the controller can vary the
amount of time a dosing pump is switched activated and is a way of fine tuning the on period of the
dosing pumps. Initial level should be set at 60% to allow for adjustment up or down.
The “timeout” is entered so that the amount of chemical being pumped is limited in the event of
the probes not registering a change in chemical levels. The timeout could be activated in the event
of faulty probes, blocked injector or empty day tank. In the event of a timeout the cause should
always be identified. Setting the time-out value to zero will disable the time-out function.
Agitator and Flocculent This output can control a mains powered electric agitator which can be
used to keep a chemical in suspension or to place a chemical into solution. In addition a flocculent
pump can be controlled. Both of these functions can be set to run continuously or to be on for a pre-
set period and then off for a selected time. There is also a manual override where the agitator or
flocculent pump can be set to run from 1 to 99 minutes. The flocculent output is turned off in the
event of no flow.
Auxiliary Output This function can be used to track or be opposite to other outputs on the
controller.
Energy Saving Inverter An inverter can be linked to a circulation pump to save energy and up to
three inverters can be controlled by the TEC4000. The amount of time the inverters run at slow
speed and therefore the energy saved is logged, the period can be reset if needed. The full speed and
slow speed is entered into the TEC4000.
To enable an inverter set the address between 1 and 31. If the address is set to zero, the inverter is
disabled. The inverters can be set to run at a single speed, via a timer or to lower the speed
dependent on the chemical level that the TEC4000 is measuring, either chlorine or chlorine and pH.
The controller communicates to the inverters via a Modbus interface. The TEC4000 is configured to
communicate with several different models or makes of inverter. If the inverter you have is not on
the list please contact Topline on 01323 440760.
Inputs M1 and M2 There are two programmable inputs which can be used for day tank level
switches, activate alarms and prevent chemicals from being dosed.
Outputs Disable All outputs can be disabled on the controller, do not rely on this function if
working on the dosing pump, agitator or any electrical equipment connected to the TEC4000.
Always electrically isolate the equipment being worked on.
To change a setting, select the item to change. Enter the value required and press “enter” followed
by “exit” to return to the maintenance menu.
