TROUBLE SHOOTING

Engine does not start, starts
hard, loses power, or fails to
keep running.
1. Gas tank is empty. 1. Fill fuel tank with gasoline.
2. Battery is dead. 2. Charge the battery.
3. Transaxle is in gear. 3. Shift transaxle into neutral.
4. Deck engagement lever is in
ENGAGE.

5. Spark plug is loose. 5. Tighten plug to 15 ftĆlb
(20.4 NĆm).
6. Wire is loose or disconnected
from spark plug.
6. Install wire on spark plug.
7. Spark plug gap is incorrect. 7. Set gap between elecĆ
trodes at 0.030 of an inch
(0.76 mm).
8. Spark plug is pitted, fouled, or
defective in some other way.
8. Install new, correctly
gapped spark plug.
9. Electrical connections are
loose.
