• Keepthesuppliedmagnetickeyawayfrommagneticinformationmedia(e.g.debit/cre-
dit cards, music cassettes, magnetic tapes etc.). The magnet integrated in the key has
enough strength to make the saved data unusable.
• Checkthecableregularlyfordamage.
• Onlyallowadultswhohavebeeninstructedonhowtooperatethemotororhaveread
the operating manual to run it.
• Followtheboatmanufacturer’sinstructionsonthepermissiblemotorizationofyour
boat. Do not exceed the capacity limits. Please note that the thrust performance of the
Cruise 4.0 R is comparable with a 9.9 hp combustion engine.
• Stopthemotorimmediatelyifsomeonegoesoverboard.
• Neveroperatethemotorifsomeoneisinthewaterclosetotheboat.
• Donotusethemotorasaxingpointforyourboat;neverusethemotorasahandleto
lift or tow smaller boats.
2. Important safety and operating instructions
Important operating instructions
Here are the most important instructions on operating Torqeedo Cruise motors. Apart
from these instructions, please observe the complete operating instructions to prevent
damage to your motor.
• Onlyrunthemotorwhenthepropellerisunderwater.Ifitisrunintheair,theshaft
sealant rings that seal the motor to the drive shaft may become damaged. If the motor
is run in the air for a longer period, the motor itself can overheat.
• TheCruiseRandtheassociatedremotethrottleareprotectedagainstdirtandwaterin
line with protection type IP67.
• Afteruse,cuttheconnectionbetweenthemotorandthebatteryusingamasterswitch.
This completely cuts the power supply to the motor and prevents the batteries from
discharging during the stoppage time because of quiescent current.
• Afteruse,alwaystakethemotoroutofthewater.Youcandothisusingthetiltmecha-
nism of the transom mount.
• Afteruseinsaltorbrackishwater,rinsethemotorwithfreshwater.
• Occasionallyusecontactspraytocareforallelectroniccontacts.Ifyouusethemotorin
salt or brackish water, we recommend applying contact spray once a month.
• Donotseparatethecableconnectionsanddonotturnthemainbatteryswitchto“off”
when the propeller is turning.
