Do you have a question about the Torqueleader TLS0022 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The document describes a range of preset torque screwdrivers from Torqueleader, including the Minor, Standard, TLS0022, and TLS1360 models. These tools are designed for precise torque application, taking the risk out of overtightening fasteners.

Function Description

These torque screwdrivers are designed to apply a preset torque to a fastener. Their mechanism type is "Slipping," meaning that once the set torque is reached, the handle rotates through an angle of 60 degrees before resetting, signaling to the operator that the target torque has been achieved. This "slipping" action prevents further torque from being applied, ensuring consistent and accurate fastening. They are ideal for production environments where the same torque is applied repeatedly, as they eliminate the need for constant monitoring of a scale. The tools are suitable for use with sockets, screwdriver bits, and blades.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Products: TLS0022, Minor, Standard, TLS1360
  • Mechanism Type: Slipping
  • ISO 6789 Designation: Type 2, Class F. This classification indicates that the tools are "indicating and setting torque tools" (Type 2) and are designed for "preset torque tools" (Class F), which means they provide a signal when the preset torque is reached.
  • Repeatability: +/- 6% of Torque Setting. This specification defines the precision with which the tool can repeatedly achieve the set torque value.
  • Calibration Period: Every 12 Months or 5000 cycles (minimum). This indicates the recommended interval for recalibration to maintain accuracy and performance.

Usage Features

General Use:

  • The primary function is as a torque screwdriver; it should not be used as a hammer, chisel, or pry bar.
  • The tool should only be held by the hand grip to ensure proper operation and accuracy.
  • For the TLS1360 model, a sliding T-Bar is provided to increase leverage when needed.
  • It is crucial to always ensure the screwdriver is in correct alignment with the fastener to prevent damage to both the tool and the fastener.

Adjustment Procedure:

  1. Check Setting: Before adjustment, the current torque setting should be checked using a Torque Analyser.
  2. Insert Adjusting Key: If adjustment is required, a 3/16" Hexagon Key is used. For the TLS0022, Minor, and Standard models, the plastic end cap must be removed to access the adjusting screw. For the TLS1360, the T-Bar must be removed first.
  3. Increase Torque: To increase the torque, rotate the adjusting key clockwise. The correct torque should be consistently shown on the analyser over 10 readings.
  4. Reduce Torque: When reducing torque, it is recommended to always approach the desired torque from a lower setting. To reduce the torque, rotate the key anti-clockwise past the desired setting, and then increase it clockwise to the required value. This method helps ensure accuracy and proper seating of the internal mechanism.

Maintenance Features

General Maintenance:

  • Torque tools require regular calibration and inspection to ensure correct and accurate operation.
  • Before each use, ensure the tool is clean and free of oil, grease, and water. Contaminants can affect the tool's performance and accuracy.
  • Never immerse the tool in cleaning fluid or petroleum, as this can damage internal components.

Calibration and Servicing:

  • Torqueleader offers comprehensive calibration services. Their UKAS Calibration Laboratory is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005, capable of recalibrating most Hand Torque Tools, Analysers, and Transducers in accordance with international standards.
  • Regular calibration to International Standards is vital to ensure the torque equipment operates at its peak performance and maintains its specified accuracy.
  • Spare parts, servicing, and calibration instructions are available directly from Torqueleader. Customers can contact them via their sales hotline or visit their website for further information.

Torque Measuring Tools (Analysers):

  • Torqueleader provides two types of Torque Analysers:
    • Mechanical Analysers: These are low-cost, robust, and easy-to-use devices designed for setting and calibrating low-range torque tools.
    • Digital Analysers: These advanced analysers allow users to download test results, test powered torque tools, and measure higher torque values than mechanical analysers. They are suitable for Research, Development, Inspection, and Quality Control, as well as servicing and production environments.

The document emphasizes the importance of accurate torque application and the role of Torqueleader tools and services in "Taking The Risk out Of Tightening."
