Maintenance Features
Important Notice:
- The manual warns against unauthorized modification or alteration of information or data provided. Toshiba is not liable for damages resulting from such actions.
- The information and data are provided "AS IS" without warranty of any kind.
Green Product Procurement:
- Toshiba promotes WEEE & RoHS Directives and uses lead-free solder in its products.
- Lead-Free Solder Warning: This product is manufactured using lead-free solder. Do not use lead-based solder to repair this product. The melting temperature of lead-free solder is higher (30°C to 40°C) than that of leaded solder. Use a soldering iron designed for lead-based solders. Proper soldering techniques are crucial for high-quality soldering.
Safety Instruction:
- Servicing Warning: Servicing should not be attempted by anyone unfamiliar with the necessary precautions.
- Isolation Transformer: An isolation transformer should be connected in the power line between the receiver and the AC line before any service is performed.
- Power Plug Disconnection: Always disconnect the power plug before disassembling the product to prevent electrical shock.
- Chassis Replacement: When replacing a chassis, ensure all protective devices (nonmetallic control knobs, insulating covers, shields, isolation resistor-capacitor network) are put back in place.
- Component Handling: Keep tools, components, etc., away from children.
- Isolation Transformer/Gloves: When servicing, use an isolation transformer or wear suitable gloves. If the chassis is contacted with power on, electrical shock is possible.
- Replacement Parts: Use only specified replacement parts with the same safety characteristics. These are identified by international hazard symbols on schematic diagrams and parts lists.
- Wiring and Dressing: Parts mounting and routing of wirings should be the same as originally used. Ensure wires are routed and clamped to avoid heat generation and high voltage.
- Internal Wiring: Ensure all internal wirings are in accordance with re-assembling the external casing after a repair. Do not allow internal wiring to be pinched by cabinets, panels, etc.
- Remodeling: Never remodel the product.
- Touch Current Check: After completing work, measure touch current to prevent electrical shock.
- Plug the AC cord directly into the AC outlet. Do not use an isolation transformer for this check.
- Connect a measuring network for touch currents between each exposed metallic part on the set and a good earth ground such as a water pipe.
- Touch Current Limits:
- The potential at any point (TOUCH CURRENT) expressed as voltage U1 and U2 must not exceed the following values:
- Open-circuit voltage should not exceed 35 V (peak) a.c. or 60 V d.c.
- TOUCH CURRENT (U1 and U2) should not exceed:
- For a.c.: U1 = 35 V (peak) and U2 = 0.35 V (peak)
- For d.c.: U1 = 1.0 V
- Note: Limit values of U2 = 0.35 V (peak) for a.c. and U1 = 1.0 V for d.c. correspond to 0.7 mA (peak) a.c. and 2.0 mA d.c.
Product Safety Notice:
- Many electrical and mechanical parts have special safety-related characteristics. These are identified by international hazard symbols on schematic diagrams and parts lists.
- Before replacing components, read the parts list carefully. Using substitute parts without the specified safety characteristics may cause electrical shock, fire, or other hazards.
After Main PCB Replacement:
- Enter Factory Menu: MENU -> Applications -> Sleep Timer + "2766".
- Select Panel Type: Go to page 3 of the Factory Menu and select the correct panel type (full panel name, not just vendor name). Panel type information is on the panel serial number sticker.
- Exit Factory Mode: Press EXIT.
- TV Restart: If the correct panel type was set, the TV will display a proper picture after restarting.
- Caution: Setting the wrong panel type may result in no picture and make it difficult/impossible to adjust settings afterwards.
