Taking care of your battery
5.375 x 8.375 ver 3.1
❖ If a battery is leaking or damaged, replace it immediately.
Use protective gloves when handling a damaged battery.
❖ To replace the main battery, use an identical battery that
you can purchase through the Toshiba Web site at
accessories.toshiba.com.
❖ A reverse polarity condition should be avoided with all
batteries. The main battery is designed so that it cannot
be installed in reverse polarity.
❖ Charge the battery only in the computer or in a battery
charger designated as an approved option.
❖ When you install the battery pack, you should hear a
click when it is seated properly.
❖ Do not expose the battery pack to fire. The battery pack
could explode.
Maximizing battery operating time
A battery’s usefulness depends on how long it can supply
power on a single charge.
How long the charge lasts in a battery depends on:
❖ How you configure the computer (for example, whether
you enable battery-power saving options). The computer
provides a battery save mode, which can be set in the
Toshiba Power Saver to conserve battery power. This
mode has the following options:
❖ CPU processing speed
❖ Screen brightness
❖ Cooling method
❖ System Standby
❖ System Hibernation
❖ Monitor power off
❖ How often and how long you use the hard disk, optical
disc.
❖ How much charge the battery contained to begin with.
❖ How you use optional devices, such as a PC Card, to
which the battery supplies power.
