Multidrive S Perfect Balance
A) Automatic mode: Multidrive S works best at low and
mid-throttle input. Demonstrate smooth acceleration
between 50 and 70km/h.
1. At full throttle it takes 3 seconds but with relatively
high engine noise. Explain that this is what a
customer may do if coming from another type of
transmission. Therefore you should demonstrate:
At half throttle: 4 seconds (50-70km/h) with
little noise or between 40 and 80km/h: 6 seconds
compared to 5 seconds.
2. The sweet spot for performance is between 3000
and 4000 rpm and at moderate throttle operation
(30-50%). The benet of going beyond that is
negligible in terms of performance and brings
considerably higher NVH (Noise Vibration
and Harshness).
B) Manual mode: In manual mode, change gears by
shifting up or down (+ or -). Let the customer
experience the smoothness of changing gears, even
down from 7th to 4th.
Dynamic
Must Do Demos
D-4D Coasting
D-4D engines are designed to coast without throttle
input at motorways speeds in 6th gear.
1. From 100-120km/h identify the motorway exit
around 500 metres away, and release the throttle
while keeping the car in 6th gear; this allows for 0
(zero) fuel consumption – as shown by the instant
fuel indicator.
2. On downhill motorway sections this demo can be
done over a longer distance, further enhancing its
wow-eect. Make sure you identify the best place on
your test drive route to maximise this demo.
3. Do not put the car in neutral as this would run the
engine at idle and consume fuel - this would be visible
in the instant fuel consumption.
4. In-gear, the engine remains in fuel-cut and
consumption is 0 (zero).
5. Should engine rpm start to drop below 1200-1100
rpm then shift down one gear to continue coasting
without risk to exit the fuel-cut and thus to remain at
0 (zero) fuel consumption.
