Manual regeneration swi tch
To start m anual regenerati on:
1. Stop the vehi cle in a safe pl ace with
the engine running.
2. Shif t t he transmi ssion i nto “P” ( auto-
matic) or neutr al (manual ) and apply
the parking brake.
3. Push the m anual regener ation
switch.
The DPF system indicator light and the
indic ator light on the switc h wi ll stay on.
The engine idle speed will inc rease.
In 15 to 20 minut es, manual regenerati on
will be completed and the lights will go
off. The engi ne idl e speed will be reduced.
If the engi ne and exhaust system are hot,
such as aft er dr iving, manual regener ation
will take less time.
Perfor m manual regenerati on as soon
as possibl e if the indicat or l ights are
flashi ng. Driving over 150 km (93
miles) with t he indicator lights f lashing
will cause the malfuncti on i ndicator
light to come on. I f the malfunction
indicat or li ght comes on, have your ve-
hicle checked immediatel y by your
Toyot a dealer.
ENGINE OIL CONDITION
The system inj ects some amount of f uel
into t he engine t o burn t he particul ate
matter f rom the catal ytic conver ter.
When the vehicle i s used f or short trips
or used i n col d weat her, t here is t he
possibility that there will be a signifi-
cant amount of fuel i n the engine oil .
If it appears t hat fuel is pr esent in the
engine oil, change the oil as soon as
possible.
CAUTION
D Be careful not t o t ouch the hot ex-
haust syst em and stay away f rom
exhaust gases. During manual re-
generati on, the exhaust gases be-
come hott er t han usual . Never leave
flammable i tems near the exhaust
system.
D Do not drive, idl e or par k your ve-
hicle over anything that might bur n
easily such as grass, leaves, paper
or rags.
