NOTICE
To pr event damage t o t he system and
a f ire hazard, obser ve t he f ollowi ng
precauti ons:
z Use only diesel f uel that contains
50 ppm or less sul phur.
z Do not stop the engine during
manual regenerat ion.
z Do not move the vehicl e befor e
manual regenerat ion is completed.
z Continuing to drive wit h t he DPF
system i ndicator light and the i ndi-
cator light on the manual regenera-
tion swi tch flashi ng will cause t he
malfuncti on indi cator l ight to come
on. Perfor m manual r egeneration as
soon as possi ble i f the indicat or
lights are fl ashing.
z Operati ng t he vehi cle when t he en-
gine oil cont ains a signifi cant
amount of diesel fuel may result in
damage to the engine. If a signifi-
cant amount of f uel is pr esent,
change the oil as soon as possi ble.
z Do not drive wit h an ext remely low
fuel level ; running out of fuel could
cause the engine t o misfir e, creat-
ing an excessive load on the cata-
lytic converter.
z Do not al low the engine to run at
idle speed for more than 20 min-
utes except when perf orming manu-
al regenerati on.
z Do not push−star t or pul l−star t your
vehicle.
z Do not tur n off t he engine swi tch
while the vehicle is moving.
z Keep your engine i n good running
order. Malfunctions in t he engine
electr ical system or fuel system
could cause an ext remely high cata-
lytic converter temperature.
z If the engine becomes difficult to
start or stalls frequentl y, take your
vehicle in for a check−up to your
Toyota dealer.
z To ensur e that the cat alyti c convert-
er and the ent ire emission cont rol
system oper ate proper ly, your ve-
hicle must recei ve the per iodic i n-
spections requi red by t he Toyota
Maintenance Schedule. ( See Secti on
6.)
