Yaris Hybrid 2018 Quick Guide
To start the car, check the shift lever is in P for Parking; press your right foot firmly on the brake pedal; press
and release the POWER button. A green READY light should show on the display.
Shift lever: You must have your foot on the brake in order to shift modes. Shift to D for Drive, then take your
foot of the brake and press the accelerator to move off. Always put shift lever back into P when you park the
car. Also shift to P if you are stuck in a queue for a long time. B mode (engine Braking) should only be used
when driving down long and steep hills. (See page 68 in the User Guide.)
The Yaris usually starts on the electric motor, and will automatically change to the petrol motor when the
electric motor has used its charge. The battery is re-charged through braking etc. (p. 32) To drive in ECO
mode to save fuel: push in the button on the left of the drivers seat, just behind the shift lever. This maximises
the regeneration of the hybrid battery. (p. 68)
Petrol refill flap is on left side. To open, pull the lever on the floor at the right of the driver’s seat. Switch
engine off before refuelling. Use unleaded petrol.
To open the bonnet, pull the lever low down beside the front end of driver's door.
Tyre pressures: front: 33 PSI = 2.3 bars; back: 32 PSI = 2.2 bars. (p. 157)
Flat tyre: if you have a puncture, there is a spare tyre in the boot - see instructions on p. 132 of User Guide.
Child safety: There is a switch on the rear edge of each back door, which you will see if you open the door,
and can be used to make it “child safe” - i.e. when switch is down a child cannot open the door. (p. 56)
