Starting Procedures:

  • Petrol Engine: Check oil (10w/40) and fuel (unleaded petrol, 1" air space). Turn fuel tap ON. Set choke ON if cold. Ensure gear lever (D) is neutral and PTO lever (E) is disengaged. Apply half throttle (F). Move engine stop lever (B) to 'ON'. Pull recoil start handle gently until it engages, then give a strong pull. Release choke after a few seconds, return throttle to idle.
  • Kohler Diesel Engines: Check oil (10w/40) and fuel (diesel). Ensure gear lever (D) is neutral and PTO lever (E) is disengaged. Apply 3/4 throttle (F). Move engine stop lever (B) to 'ON'. Pull recoil start handle gently until it engages, then give a strong pull. Return throttle to idle once started.
  • Yanmar Diesel Engines: Check oil (10w/40) and fuel (diesel). Ensure gear lever (D) is neutral and PTO lever (E) is disengaged. Apply 3/4 throttle (F). Move engine stop lever (B) to 'ON'. Press and hold decompression lever. Pull recoil start handle gently until it engages, then slowly pull over 2-3 times to prime. Release decompression lever and pull over until compression is felt. Press (do not hold) decompression lever and give a strong pull to start. Return throttle to idle once started.

Operation:

  • Set handlebar height (G).
  • Hold handlebar, pull up clutch lever (C).
  • Depress OPC lever (A), select speed (D).
  • Ensure forward/reverse lever (L) is in correct position (back if handlebars over engine, forward if over implement).
  • Engage PTO lever (E) for implement drive (pull towards you if handlebars over engine, push away if over implement).
  • Release clutch lever (C) slowly and fully, keeping red machine stop lever depressed.
  • Adjust throttle (F) as per implement manual.
  • Commence work.

Stopping Procedure:

  • Close throttle (F).
  • Engage clutch lever (C).
  • Locate gear lever (D) in neutral.
  • Disengage PTO lever (E) backwards.
  • Release clutch lever (C).
  • Release OPC lever (A) completely.
  • Move engine stop lever (B) to 'STOP'.
  • WARNING: Exhaust cover may be hot - do not touch.

Attaching Implements:

  • Models 710-740: Implements mount directly to the flange (Fig. 12, A) or with a quick release assembly (Fig. 13, C). Ensure fastening nuts (Fig. 13, D) are tight.
  • Model 750: Implements mount to the machine coupler (Fig. 14, A) by attaching the implement's coupler (Fig. 14, C). Fitting/removal is by rotating knob (Fig. 15, R) (clockwise to lock, anti-clockwise to unlock). Ensure fastening nuts (Fig. 15, D) are tight.
