Overview

The Trimline fireplace is a balanced flue gas fire designed for installation as a closed unit. It is available in several models, including the Trimline 14038 DB Panorama/Corner, Trimline 12038 DB Panorama/Corner, and Trimline 10038 DB Panorama/Corner, with corresponding model numbers (1140/1141/1142), (1145/1146/1147), and (1156/1157/1158) respectively. These models are also referred to as Panorama/Hoek (Dutch), Panorama/Coin (French), Panorama/Hjørne (Danish), Panorama/Ángulo (Spanish), and Panorama/Ecke (German), indicating their corner or panoramic design and suitability for various European markets.

Function Description:

The Trimline gas fireplace operates as a balanced flue system, meaning it draws fresh combustion air from outside through an outer tube and expels combustion gases through an inner tube. Both tubes are concentrically arranged. This design ensures that the combustion process is sealed from the living space, enhancing safety and efficiency. The unit is controlled by a Mertik GV60 gas valve and a B6R R8U burner control, featuring remote control operation and piezo ignition. The pilot flame is a SIT 3-flame type. The fireplace is designed to provide heat and ambiance, with options for ceramic logs, pebbles, or Carrara/Basalt stones to enhance the visual appeal of the flames.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Gas Valve Type: Mertik GV60
  • Burner Control: B6R R8U
  • Ignition: Remote control operation and Piezo ignition
  • Gas Connection: 3/8" (External)
  • Unit Category: C11-C31-C91 (indicating suitability for various balanced flue configurations)
  • Pilot Flame: SIT 3 flames
  • Combustion Gas Discharge and Air Supply: Concentric Ø130 / 200mm (or Ø100/150mm depending on the model and flue system)
  • Maximum Vertical Flue Length: 12 meters (including calculation lengths for bends)
  • Bend Calculation Lengths: 90° bends count as 2 meters horizontal, 45° bends count as 1 meter horizontal.
  • Distance to Flammable Materials: Minimum 1200 mm from the front, sides, and top of the unit to curtains, floor coverings, upholstery, fabrics, or other flammable materials, unless otherwise specified.
  • Distance to Non-Flammable Materials: Minimum 25 mm from the wall, unless otherwise specified.
  • Exhaust Grille Temperature: Can reach over 100°C.
  • NoX Class: All Trimline appliances are NoX Class 5.
  • Gas Types and Pressures: The manual provides detailed tables for G20/25 and G30/31 gas types across various countries, including primary air settings, pre-pressure, burner pressure (high and low), injector sizes, low setting size, load (Hs and Hi), consumption, and nominal output. For example, for the 14038 DB Panorama/Corner (1140/1141/1142) on G20/25 gas, the nominal output is 12//10.7 kW, and for G30/31 gas, it is 8.8//8.8-10.8//10 kW.

Usage Features:

  • Optional Decorative Sets: The fireplace can be customized with optional black glass, wall sets, or lamella sets (specifically for 73H DB 1133 models), which must be installed before placing the ceramic logs or pebble set.
  • Ceramic Log/Pebble/Stone Sets: Users can choose between ceramic logs, pebbles, or Carrara/Basalt stones for the burner bed. Specific instructions are provided for arranging these materials to ensure proper flame appearance and combustion. It is crucial to keep the pilot light unobstructed by any glowing material.
  • Restriction Plate: The manual emphasizes the importance of correctly installing the restriction plate to achieve optimal efficiency, flame image, and combustion. Incorrect placement can lead to malfunction.
  • Remote Control: The Mertik Maxitrol GV60 gas control system allows for remote operation. Batteries for the remote and receiver should be installed carefully, and the ignition cable should not be near or cross the antenna wire to prevent interference.
  • First Use: Upon initial use, air in the gas pipes must be purged. After the first burning, any deposits on the glass resulting from paint curing should be removed using a glass cleaner for heaters.

Maintenance Features:

  • Annual Inspection: The appliance must be inspected and serviced annually by a qualified and registered professional to ensure correct and safe operation.
  • Regular Cleaning: It is advisable to clean the appliance of dust and debris regularly during the heating season, especially if it has not been used for some time. This can be done with a soft brush, vacuum cleaner, or a damp cloth, using a non-abrasive cleaning agent. Corrosive or abrasive substances should not be used.
  • Concentric Flue System Cleaning: The concentric flue system requires inspection and cleaning every two years.
  • AR Glass Cleaning: For models with Anti-Reflective (AR) ceramic glass, special cleaning procedures must be followed. Only water or suitable detergents (like Thermocet cleaner) should be used with soft cotton gloves and microfiber cloths. Hard sponges, steel wool, abrasives, and cleaners with ammonia or acid are strictly prohibited. After the first use, any white haze on the inside of the pane must be removed once the appliance has cooled.
  • Troubleshooting: A comprehensive troubleshooting list for the Mertik GV60 gas control is provided, covering issues such as ignition problems, pilot light failures, and main burner operation, along with possible causes and solutions.
  • Sealed Parts: Sealed parts of the gas control system must not be adjusted.
