8. Remove the torsional damper and the retaining plate from the output shaft. If
necessary, use a soft faced mallet to gently tap the torsional damper off the output
shaft.

Output Shaft Bearing Measuring and Shim Selection
The shim selection for the output shaft is only required if one of the following conditions
are met:
• New output shaft being fitted to the original crankcase.
• Original output shaft being fitted to a new crankcase.
• New output shaft and crankcase.
1. Fit the output shaft to the crankcase (without the torsional damper). Make sure the
two selector forks are positioned as noted for removal.
