Switching the device on
1. Switch the device on by pressing the device power
button(1).
ð A brief acoustic signal is emitted, and the measuring
tip(7) lights up green.

After switch-on, the device's measurement sensitivity
is always set to 200V to 1000V. In order to detect
lower ACvoltages, you have to select sensitivity level2
before starting the measurement.
Setting the measurement sensitivity
The device BE15 has two sensitivity levels.
Sensitivity level ACvoltage
measuring range
LED colour
measuring tip
1 200 V to 1000 V green
2 24 V to 1000 V orange
Please proceed as follows to change the sensitivity level:
1. Switch the device on.
ð After switch-on, the device's measurement sensitivity is
set to 200V to 1000V.
2. Briefly press the sensitivity selection button(1) once.
ð The measuring tip lights up orange, and sensitivity
level2 is set.
ð The device's measurement sensitivity is now set to 24V
to 1000V.
24 V – 1000 V 200 V – 1000 V

Checking the device's functionality before measuring
Note
Before commissioning, check the function of the
device at a known voltage source, e.g. on a known and
safe230V voltage source or on a known and safe
9Vbattery. Select the correct measuring range!
ü Charged batteries have been inserted into the device.
1. Switch the device on.
2. Hold the measuring tip (7) to a known source of voltage.
ð The measuring tip (7) flashes red.
ð A repetitive acoustic signal is emitted.
ð You can now use the device to detect ACvoltages.
