The Trotec PRDS 11-230V is a robust rotary hammer designed for continuous high-performance operations across various materials. Its pneumatic hammer mechanism delivers high impact power, making it suitable for demanding tasks.
Function Description:
The PRDS 11-230V offers three primary operating modes: drilling, hammer drilling, and chiselling. A function selector switch with a safety lock allows for safe and easy switching between these modes. Additionally, the chisel position can be adjusted by up to 360° for optimal working angles. The device features an infinitely variable impact rate and speed control, enabling users to precisely adjust the exertion of force according to the specific application and material. This ensures efficient and controlled operation, whether working with soft or hard materials.
The SDS-plus system tool holder is a key feature, allowing for quick and tool-free exchange of insertion tools. For standard drilling accessories, an optionally installable key-type drill chuck can be used. An additional handle is pre-assembled to enhance stability and safety during drilling and chiselling operations, and its position can be adjusted by 360° to suit user preference. An operating light illuminates when the power cable is plugged in, indicating readiness.
The device's speed selection is adjustable across five levels (1-5), with a range of 0-800 rpm for drilling and 0-4000 bpm for impact. This allows for fine-tuning based on material hardness and drill bit size. A depth stop is included to control the penetration depth of drill bits, ensuring precise drilling. For overhead drilling, a dust protection cap can be used to protect both the user and the tool from falling dust particles.

Usage Features:
- Tool Change: The SDS-plus system tool holder allows for quick and easy insertion and removal of tools. To insert a tool, the SDS-plus system tool holder is pushed to the rear and held, the tool is inserted, and then the holder is released. The tool should be checked for a tight fit. For key-type drill chucks, a similar process is followed, using the drill chuck key to open and tighten the chuck.
- Adjusting Additional Handle: The additional handle can be loosened, rotated 360° to the desired position, and then retightened for enhanced control and comfort.
- Speed Selection: The setting wheel allows users to select one of five speed levels, optimizing performance for different materials and tasks. Lower speeds are recommended for soft materials or larger drilling diameters, while higher speeds are suitable for hard materials or smaller drilling diameters.
- Depth Stop: The depth stop is inserted into its mount and adjusted to the desired penetration depth, then fastened with a screw. This ensures consistent drilling depth.
- Dust Protection: The dust protection cap is designed for overhead drilling, fitting over the drill bit to collect debris and protect the user.
- Operating Modes: The function selector switch (with a release button) allows selection between drilling, hammer drilling, and chiselling. The impact mechanism switch activates or deactivates the impact function. For chiselling, the tool's position can be adjusted by 360° after setting the function selector switch to the appropriate position.
- Switching On/Off: The device is switched on by pressing and holding the on/off switch. Speed can be controlled by the pressure applied to the switch (light pressure for low speed, firm pressure for high speed). Releasing the switch turns the device off.
- Drilling Tips: Regular short breaks during drilling allow the drill bit to cool. Workpieces should be secured. Appropriate drill bits (HSS for metal, specific bits for wood/masonry) and lubricants (for metal) should be used. For wood, placing a block underneath or drilling from both sides prevents splintering.
- Chiselling Tips: A suitable chisel should be used.
Maintenance Features:
- Pre-Maintenance Checks: Before any maintenance, ensure the device is switched off, the mains plug is disconnected from the socket, and the device has cooled down completely.
- Lubrication: The tool holder (1) should be regularly lubricated after use with grease from the provided lubricant container (15).
- Cleaning: The device should be cleaned before and after each use. A soft, damp, lint-free cloth should be used. It is crucial to prevent liquids from entering the housing and to protect electrical components from moisture. Aggressive cleaning agents, solvents, alcohol-based or abrasive cleaners should be avoided. The device and bits should be dried with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- Ventilation: Keep ventilation openings free from dust deposits to prevent motor overheating.
- Tool Holder Cleaning: Remove any drilling dust or wood chips from the SDS tool holder or key-type drill chuck.
- Greasing Tool Holder: Slightly grease the tool holder with machine lubricant before inserting another tool.
- Professional Repair: Maintenance tasks requiring the housing to be opened must only be carried out by authorized specialist companies or by Trotec.
- Post-Maintenance: After maintenance or repair, wait at least 3 minutes before switching the device back on.
