Overview

This document provides a quick installation guide for a portable printer, detailing its components, LED indicators, and basic operational procedures, including media loading, battery charging, and belt clip installation.

Printer Overview

The printer features a user-friendly design with clearly labeled components. The Power on/off button is located on the top surface, allowing for easy activation and deactivation of the device. Adjacent to it are the Printer status LED indicator and the Battery status LED indicator, which provide visual feedback on the printer's operational state and battery charge level, respectively.

For media handling, the printer includes a Media cover release button and a Media holder lock switch, facilitating the loading and securing of print media. The Media cover protects the internal components and media roll. Inside, a Media holder secures the media roll, and a Print head is responsible for transferring the image onto the media. A Feed button allows for manual advancement of the media.

The printer is powered by a Li-ion battery, which is inserted into a dedicated compartment. The battery compartment features a Battery open clasp for easy access. A Belt chip is also present, likely for securing a belt clip.

Connectivity options include a USB interface for data transfer, a MicroSD card socket for expandable memory, and a Power jack for charging the device. A Platen is also visible, which works in conjunction with the print head to ensure proper media feeding and printing.

Keys and LEDs Indication

The printer uses a combination of keys and LED indicators to communicate its status and allow for user interaction.

Keys

  • Power on/off button: Pressing and holding this button for 2-3 seconds will turn the printer on or off.
  • Feed button (represented by a square icon): This button serves multiple functions. When the printer is ready, pressing it will feed one label. During a print job, it can be used to pause printing.

LEDs

The printer utilizes several LED indicators, each with distinct colors and blinking patterns, to convey various statuses:

Battery Status LEDs (represented by three square icons):

  • Green (solid): Indicates the battery is full charged.
  • Green (solid): Indicates the battery is at a 2/3 charged level.
  • Green (solid): Indicates the battery is at a 1/3 charged level.
  • Green (blinking): Indicates a low battery level.
  • Amber (solid): Indicates the battery is currently charging.

Bluetooth Status LEDs (represented by a Bluetooth icon):

  • Blue (solid): Indicates the Bluetooth device is ready for connection.
  • Blue (blinking): Indicates the Bluetooth device is actively communicating.

WiFi Status LEDs (represented by a WiFi icon):

  • Blue (solid): Indicates the WiFi device is ready.
  • Blue (blinking): Indicates the WiFi device is actively communicating.
  • Note: WiFi functionality is optional and may not be present on all models.

General Printer Status LEDs (represented by a printer icon):

  • Off: Indicates the printer is ready for operation.
  • Green (blinking): Indicates the printer is paused or downloading data.
  • Red (solid): Indicates the media cover is open or the printer is out of memory.
  • Red (blinking): Indicates there is no paper or a paper jam has occurred.

Usage Features

Install Belt Clip and Battery

  1. Installing the Belt Clip: The document illustrates how to attach the belt clip to the printer. This typically involves aligning the clip with designated slots on the printer's body and securing it, often with a screw or a snap mechanism. The diagram shows two screws (labeled 1 and 2) that are used to secure the belt clip.
  2. Installing the Battery: The Li-ion battery is inserted into the battery compartment. The diagram shows the battery being inserted into the back of the printer, ensuring proper orientation.

Loading the Media

The printer supports different types of media rolls, and proper loading is crucial for optimal performance.

  1. Opening the Media Cover: Press the media cover release button to open the media cover.
  2. Placing the Media Roll: Insert the media roll into the media holder. The diagram shows the correct orientation of the media roll, with the media feeding from the bottom of the roll towards the print head. An incorrect orientation (feeding from the top) is also shown to highlight what to avoid.
  3. Securing the Media: Close the media cover, ensuring the media is properly aligned and secured by the media holder lock switch.

Loading Media in Peel-off Mode

This mode is designed for labels that need to be peeled off their backing liner after printing.

  1. Open and Prepare: Open the media cover and ensure the media roll is loaded correctly. Pull a portion of the liner away from the label.
  2. Thread the Liner: Thread the peeled-off liner through a designated slot or path within the printer, typically around a roller or guide that separates the liner from the labels. The diagram shows the liner being pulled through a specific opening.
  3. Feed the Labels: Ensure the labels themselves are positioned correctly to be fed towards the print head.
  4. Close and Verify: Close the media cover. The printer should now be ready to print labels in peel-off mode, with the liner being separated as the labels are dispensed. An "OK!" indicator in the diagram confirms successful loading.

Maintenance Features

Charge the Battery

To ensure continuous operation, the battery needs to be charged.

  1. Connect the Charger: Plug the power adapter into the Power jack on the printer.
  2. Connect to Power Source: Plug the other end of the power adapter into a wall outlet.
  3. Charging Indication: The Battery status LED indicator will show an amber (solid) light to indicate that the battery is charging. Once fully charged, the LED will turn green (solid).

This quick installation guide provides essential information for setting up and operating the printer, covering basic functions, LED indications, and media handling procedures. For more detailed information, users are directed to refer to the comprehensive user's manual on the CD disk.
