WARNING
Your safety is very important. Read all instructions before beginning any
service or installation on your Tsunami Regenerative Dryer. Always wear
safety eye protection when working with compressed air products.
Failure to follow maintenance instructions could result in operating
failure or product damage. System pressure must be released prior to
any installation or service. Always install the system with the arrows
indicating the direction of airflow. Use appropriate thread sealant on all
connection fittings unless otherwise specified. Do not alter the dryer or
filtration system from its original design as this may cause failure in its
operational parameters.

DESCRIPTION
Congratulations on the purchase of your Tsunami Regenerative Drying
System! By adhering to the specifications and maintenance schedule
listed in the manual, your air system will provide years of service with
minimal maintenance.
Incoming air enters the 1st stage water separator where water and
particulates are removed down to 10 micron. The air then travels
through the 2nd stage oil coalescing filter where oil aerosols are filtered
down to .001 ppm and particulates are trapped down to .01 micron. The
pretreated air enters the regenerative dryer where molecular sieve
desiccant captures water vapor. Approximately every 2 minutes (90 seconds for
12v timers using the pneumatic powered generator) the timer sends out a
signal causing an internal piston to shift. The shift in the piston redirects air
flow through the opposite dryer canister(s); dryers are available with
alternative voltage options. The Tsunami Regenerative Drying System can
provide dew points down to -80°F and relative humidity down to .01% RH. All
dryers come standard with automatic drains to assure proper discharge of all
contaminants captured in the water separator and oil coalescing filter.
Tsunami Pure Series Tank Mounted Dryers come standard with a 110v
timer/coil assembly to operate the air valve actuation controlling tower cycling.
Other voltages are available, including 220 VAC as well as self powered units
equipped a pneumatic generator. The Pneumo-Generator has the ultimate
solution for self-contained installations, or mobility, as the generator provides
power to the 24 VDC timer/coil assembly.

Overview

The Tsunami Pure Series Tank Mounted Regenerative Dryer is a sophisticated air drying system designed to deliver clean, dry compressed air for various applications. It operates by removing water vapor, oil aerosols, and particulates from compressed air, ensuring optimal performance of downstream equipment and processes.

Function Description

The system employs a multi-stage filtration and drying process. Incoming air first enters a 1st stage water separator, which removes water and particulates down to 10 microns. Following this, the air passes through a 2nd stage oil coalescing filter, where oil aerosols are filtered down to 0.001 ppm and particulates down to 0.01 micron. The pretreated air then proceeds to the regenerative dryer, which utilizes molecular sieve desiccant to capture water vapor.

The regenerative dryer operates on a timed cycle. Approximately every 90 seconds (or 2 minutes for 12V timers using a pneumatic generator), a timer sends a signal to an internal piston, causing it to shift. This shift redirects airflow through the opposite dryer canister, allowing the desiccant in one tower to regenerate while the other dries the air. This continuous cycling ensures a consistent supply of dry air.

The Tsunami Regenerative Drying System is capable of achieving very low dew points, down to -80°F, and relative humidity as low as 0.01% RH. All dryers come standard with automatic drains (Moisture Minder® pneumatic drains for Pure-10T models and float drains for ROVE Mobile Dryer models) to ensure proper discharge of all contaminants captured by the water separator and oil coalescing filter.

Pure Series Tank Mounted Dryers typically come with a 110V timer/coil assembly for controlling tower cycling. Other voltage options, including 220 VAC, are available. Self-powered units equipped with a pneumatic generator provide power to a 24 VDC timer/coil assembly, offering ultimate mobility and self-contained operation.

Important Technical Specifications

Usage Features

  • Versatile Installation: Tsunami Regenerative Dryers are configurable in multiple variations. It is crucial to determine the correct airflow direction for installation.
  • ROVE Mobile Dryer: Designed for ultimate versatility, providing clean, dry compressed air wherever needed. It comes mounted on a 30-gallon receiver tank for mobility and storage. Simply plug the air connection into the ball valve inlet on the pre-filters.
  • Pure-10 Tank Mounted Dryer: Standard with a 110V timer/coil assembly, with 220 VAC and pneumatic generator options available.
  • Bypass Circuit Recommendation: For ease of service, it is highly recommended to install a bypass circuit around the regenerative dryer. This allows for maintenance without shutting down the air system. To use the dryer, open the inlet and outlet ball valves and close the bypass valve. To bypass the dryer, close the inlet and outlet ball valves and open the bypass valve.
  • Electrical Connections: For 110V dryers, simply plug into a wall outlet. For 220V dryers, install a 220/230/240 single-phase plug on flying leads or hardwire into an electrical box, ensuring compliance with local electrical codes.
  • Safety Precautions: Always release system pressure before any service or installation. Wear safety eye protection. Install the system with arrows indicating airflow direction. Use appropriate thread sealant on all connection fittings. Do not alter the dryer or filtration system from its original design. Do not transport ROVE units offsite with stored air under pressure.

Maintenance Features

Mandatory Every 6 Months:

  • Oil Coalescing Filter Element Replacement: Replace the filter element (P/N: 21999-0202). This involves unplugging the unit, releasing system pressure, disconnecting pilot lines, removing the filter tube, and replacing the element and O-ring.
  • Piston Lubrication: Inspect and lubricate the piston spool and piston bores. This requires unplugging the unit, releasing system pressure, disconnecting tubing from the quick-connect fitting on the piston cover, removing the piston cover, extracting the piston and spring, lubricating the piston bore with dielectric grease, and lubricating the top three O-rings on the piston.
  • Piston Replacement Kit: Replace pistons using the Piston Replacement Kit (P/N: 21999-0707).
  • Dryer Canister Replacement: Replace dryer canisters (P/N: 21999-0349). This involves unplugging the unit, releasing system pressure, unscrewing and discarding old canisters, removing and discarding small O-rings and large gaskets, cleaning surfaces, applying grease to new O-rings and gaskets, and threading new canisters onto the mounting stud.
  • Replacement Pistons: Replace pistons as part of the 3-year service.

Troubleshooting Guide:

The manual includes a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as water/oil carryover, excess air purging out the muffler, and the dryer not cycling. This guide provides probable causes and corresponding corrections, such as verifying automatic drains, replacing filter elements, replacing desiccant canisters, lubricating or replacing pistons, and checking/replacing power cords or solenoid timer valves.

The Tsunami Regenerative Drying System is designed for longevity and ease of maintenance, ensuring a reliable supply of clean, dry air with adherence to the specified service schedule.
